This article is in the series "SkiTalk Live with Dan Egan"
In this episode, host and extreme skiing pioneer Dan Egan is joined by
  • Jessica Sobolowski-Quinn, extreme skier and co-owner, Points North Heli-Adventures Inc.
  • Lisa Lynn, editor/copublisher, VT Ski + Ride magazine
  • Tricia and Phil Pugliese, cofounders/owners, SkiTalk.com
This episode is loaded with great input from lady skiers and includes three video clips featuring scenes from around the ski world including Vermont, Alaska, and California. Dan starts this episode by congratulating Tricia and Phil Pugliese on the rebranding of their website from Pugski.com to SkiTalk.com. The Puglieses chose the new name to give their site a more universal reach and identity. Lisa Lynn comments on the restrictions and safety measures skiers can expect in Vermont this winter. Jessica Sobolowski-Quinn provides details on Points North Heli-Adventures, the heli-ski operation run by her family for the last 22 years in the Chugach Mountain Range of Alaska.

Lisa provides expert advice on how the season is likely to play out in Vermont. Her magazine has a new articleon cold weather tailgating and other information you need to know before you go. It's not all seriousness, as Lisa plays a clip of the hysterical video "A Drunk History of Skiing in Vermont." Jessica expounds enthusiastically on the beauties of Alaskan heli-skiing and shares a video featuring herself and husband/co-owner Kevin Quinn describing Points North Heli-Adventures as adult fun camp. It's like a wintry Disneyland on steroids with access to 1500 square miles of skiable terrain. This elicits a humorous round of stories by the ladies on the panel involving spines, sluff, ragdolling, and great accomplishments.

This episode closes with a video clip from Warren Miller Entertainment featuring Jessica skiing in Motts Canyon at Heavenly, CA.

About author
Philpug
I started skiing in the mid-70s in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania; from then on, I found myself entrenched in the industry. I have worked in various ski shops from suburban to ski town to resort, giving me a well-rounded perspective on what skiers want from their gear. That experience was parlayed into my time as a Gear Review Editor and also consulting with manufacturers as a product tester. Along with being a Masterfit-trained bootfitter I am a fully certified self proclaimed Gear Guru. Not only do I keep up with the cutting edge of ski gear technology, but I am an avid gear collector and have an extensive array of bindings as well as many vintage skis.
