Interesting presentation from the PSIA National Academy 2019 on research on the effect of ski width on muscle and joint stress in alpine skiing.
At 90 minutes needs some more review however this item seems very relevant to anyone undertaking instructor certification. (Not surprising given the...

I ran across the following on the PSIA website and would like to understand it better and how I might incorporate it. Any insights will be appreciated.

Most skiers think that they can slow down by edging more on the steeps, but the opposite is true. A high edge angle at the end of a turn will scoot the ski forward and often cause the skier to become out of balance. Combine this with some tension or stress and a tense downhill leg situation...
Received an email from Ski.com with a link to the Aim Adventure U online courses. Its pretty steep at $149 but would be worth it if it helped me to help my progress from an advanced to an expert level skier. Anybody try any of these in the past...

For those of you interested in technical stuff, this is a great course. I took it about five years ago, and I am doing it again. It's worth it just for the racing montages!
Two, 3-week courses: Tuesdays, 7:00 - 9:00 pm
Part I - Oct. 2, 9, 16
Part II - Oct. 23, 30, Nov. 6
Open to all. Non-PSIA...
It is not easy to find the official PSIA videos of skiing turns and exam tasks by searching with Google or within YouTube. One gets lots of Rocky Mountain videos, or other videos, but not the official PSIA ones, from the Alpine Technical Manual. So, here is the link to those videos.

I have two kinds of questions about the "rocking horse" movement pattern.
The first is historical.
--Has the "rocking horse" movement pattern (actively moving under-ski pressure from tip to waist to tail through the turn) ever been openly and publicly promoted by PSIA? By this I mean did PSIA...
This thread is inspired by @TonyPlush's "Mountains with the best ski schools?", in General. That thread has to do with great deals for good lessons. I'd be interested in hearing, from both instructors and students, their experiences with regard to Best Practices at Ski Schools. It can be...

I recently took the Level II teaching exam and got the following feedback from the MA portion.

I kind of can't believe he hasn't mentioned this in a post yet, so congratulations to JM for getting selected to the pSIA-E Development team this week. He and 5 other instructors from Stowe were among 19 added to the team this year. @Nate Gardner was one of the selectors (though he did not score...
