Where to ski in June, July, August

Is Beartooth Basin (next to Yellowstone) any good? How is Timberline (Mt.Hood) this year with apparently low snowpack? I assume it has to freeze overnight (a function of clear skies) for the hardpack skiing conditions to form. Early July? Is Bariloche worth a $1500 plane ticket?

    Chamonix and Grand Montets

Wasn’t sure where to post this, here or Backcountry. Anyone interested in Chamonix and, in particular, Grand Montets? Cable car to tip not operational, so... no riders at the top who won’t skin and climb up. I’m thinking Lognan Refuge. Early morning starts up. Or early morning empty slopes to...

2 meter dump in Switzerland and Northern Italy

Resorts like Verbier are opening some slopes, some resorts say this the earliest they have ever opened. Could be another magnificent snow year in Europe.

We arrived the Saturday before Easter, early morning and were off to St. Anton. Next day was blizzard central, whiteout...

International (Europe/Japan/Southern Hemisphere) Ski trip to the Alps worth it from North America?

I have been thinking that it would be fun to meet European friends for a ski trip in the Alps. I have visited Austria several times and the Italian Dolomites twice, all in summer, and really enjoyed the scenery, the culture, the alm huts etc. On the other hand, skiing is so condition dependent...
