Prompted by VR and assorted Ikon threads over time I wonder if we should try to bottom out the perspectives on Locals v Tourists, "new" passholders v longstanding passholders etc etc.
It strikes me that there is always lots of griping when there is any change associated with ski hills from...

There has been a lot of discussion about VR's expansion, and all of the opinions on if it's a good thing, a bad thing, or just a thing. It got me wondering how many people have bought into the Epic or the IKON model for skiing and how many people are actively avoiding it.
How has the model...
Just came down the news wire this morning:
https://www.epicpass.com/info/peak-resorts-release.aspx
That's a huge development for folks in the Mid-Atlantic and Ohio River Valley: access to a lot more mountains on one pass. It's unknown whether Peak Pass holders will be upgraded to Epic for the...

Looks like Keystone will open in October and Vail and Beaver Creek will have more terrain open at their set opening dates of November 15 regardless of snowfall. So, VRi is banking on the snowmaking improvements to challenge both Arapahoe Basin and Loveland for the earliest start and the longest...
Epic, Ikon, Mountain Collective -- which is best? There may already be an informative thread on this. If so, just point me to it.
I'm particularly interested in which would be best in view of where next season's Gatherings will be held (if that has been decided).
Thanks!

Will the places that have the Epic pass be less crowded than the IKON resorts? and whos renewing their IKON pass?
Iwas pretty discouraged at some of the IKON resorts this year due to crowds. A friend of mines just came back from Whistler and noticed it was a lot less crowded compared to last...

It appears that Vail plans on starting pass sales on March 5th. The only info I have found on it was here, www.epicpass.com.
No details there yet, just a note on the homepage.

I'm a new skier. I have been to Heavenly, Squaw, Sierra at Tahoe, Park City, Beaver Creek and Northstar. As such, I don't have a lot of first hand observations on what makes a ski area better than other.
I'm curious why there is a lot of anti Vail sentiment on this forum. I think their pass...
