You guys are done at Mammoth as of today?
We just got home from bringing the new(to us) SS SkiTalk home.

Yup, it's a wrap. Heading home. The short way this time.

They have done a superb job widening the WROD’s to the mIn lodge & stump alley wider than 2 weeks ago - probably for the holiday . Ski’s can stay on! Should have no problem making May 31

Here’s what today looked like.

@John Webb, we skied together most of the day. 9301B882-525B-4196-8128-9F912CAA03C6.jpeg BE9B8235-E6AC-4C37-A5D0-4EAA9E6F0073.jpeg E8D4AC6E-D1B9-41D7-BF73-FE46401223F3.jpeg 3F54704F-86FE-4525-9822-FBD90537B484.jpeg

I arrived at 7:30, it was firm and fast for about an hour or two, then spring slush as things warmed up, finally “who’s hitting my brakes?” sticky by 2pm.

Not too many people, but then it’s Thursday.

Ministry of Good Ideas:
Taking a leisurely drive along the Mammoth Scenic drive after skiing.

Potentially from the Ministry of Bad Ideas:
Seeing a sign for Inyo Craters, deciding to drive a mile or so on a gravel and dirt road, and then hiking to see the Craters. But it all worked out and the hike wasn’t too bad.

I love the bark on these pines. 9801037C-54AD-4A95-9827-4C0778CB719A.jpeg

A strangely and wonderfully twisted pine 3AB9EE94-23D3-4E89-A412-B8AB76ECEA06.jpeg

Very much Ministry of Good Ideas:
Continuing with my original plan to go to the Wild Willie’s hot springs, which is 10 miles out of town, with the last 1 1/2 miles along a gravel road. The thought that this was a Ministry of Bad Ideas idea was dispelled when I walked along the path to the hot springs, which costs nothing to visit, and spent a good time relaxing, pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. Very peaceful (except for the French dudes who took a couple of humorous videos to send to friends).

Not a bad way to follow up a day of skiing.

I forgot to add this one of Crater 2 (I don’t know that they’re actually called that), you can see Mammoth in the background. 540BC43B-8EB2-4D45-8E22-77D4305A9A15.jpeg

Yes to it being @MountainMonster. It was nice to ski with @David Chaus today. Lower Stump Alley is about half the width as just posted but good snow not even as sticky as
other areas at 2 pm. They pack and salt it. Cornice is in excellent shape, Climax is ok but large moguls. Daves should reopen tomorrow. Can't exit chair 23 to right but can take roadrunner around back to get to that side of ridge.
