Heck, we know and ski with enough people we could easily fill a couple six packs
Well sure... but are they "in your party" enough that you'll sit next to them on a lift? And would they all agree to that? That becomes a pretty personal decision for everyone, and could be another form of pressure ("c'mon, ride with us... you know us... " etc.)

Absolutely I agree with your assessment.
I'll even admit that I've been more cautious about who is in my bubble since being diagnosed with breast cancer. Until I know what the follow up treatment will be, I have no idea what my co-morbitity risk will be.
The thing I do know is that Phil and I will be picking Andy up to go skiing and we will ski!!

Help me out ... What has the snow on it there? Champs Elysee?

I was surprised to see this too. Usually Squaw opens with Funi + Gold Coast only.

Maybe with covid rules, they are not running Funi, and after looking for alternate runs as early season candidates? Maybe this season will be Red Dog + Champs. If it works out- would actually be much better than Funi + Gold coast.

Yes, its Champs. See this screen grab from FATMAP from the top of KT :)

Wake up Sleepers!
Late this afternoon was a balmy breezeless 74 here in the SF South Bay. But today November 5, 2020 is the last day of our region's long monotonous dry season this odd weather year of 2020.

Let there be white!

a cold upper trough ejects from the Gulf of Alaska and pushes

into the region...In addition, snow levels will lower
during the day and early evening down to around 3500 to 4000
feet. Therefore, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued from 10
AM Friday morning through Friday 10 PM for higher elevations of
the Sierra Nevada, mountains of Western Plumas County and Burney
Basin above 5,000 feet. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches

are expected, locally up to 8 inches.

Forecast had been we in the South SF Bay area were not likely to see any rain if any till wee hours Saturday night, but surprise, the surface low has moved down on top of us with real showers, ending our long very dry period. Suspect Tahoe will be rather white by Sunday afternoon. Radar also shows large area of showers nearing Sacramento.

My earliest skiing was a week before Turkey week. Not western
but at all places, Seven Springs PA. 4 feet of medium snow fell.
Entire area was open. Even had skiing in woods alongside trails !
No other areas got any snow except Blue Knob, closed as lifts weren't inspected.
Midweek before ruined by heavy rain 3 days later.

Chains/4x4 now on 80, 88 near Kirkwood & near Mammoth on 395.
