Growing concern for Swiss and Austrian ski resorts this winter

From reducing how much snow is made via cannons to increasing cable car prices, the effects of the energy crisis are expected to hit winter tourists.

In the meantime, ski areas in Austria and Switzerland have calculated they could save up to 20% on energy without impacting the core skiing operation. This would however sometimes mean scaling down all non-essential nice-to-haves that we have gotten used to. Night skiing (lights and extra grooming), preemptive snowmaking - especially during low season, stretching the season endlessly (before Christmas and in spring) - that may all be scaled down.

Prices have gone up, ski pass prices sometimes with as much as 10% in some cases. For accommodations, I don't see increased prices yet, but it's still early.
