David Hawtry is excellent. Level 3 and long time mammoth instructor

I could also vouch for David Hawtry. Super experienced professional! If not him I am sure he could make recommendations that would meet you needs.

Thanks for the suggestion folks! Other than through MMSA, is there a way to reach out to David Hawtry to discuss recommendations? If so, please feel free to PM me his contact info. Thanks!

He is on Facebook, you could probably message him there.

I wish we had it in us to do it.
This spring has been crazy and we're barely able to keep up with things here, let alone heading to Mammoth for the day. Enjoy!
Thanks for the mention Trisha! I specialize in teaching maximum-size group lessons for children during the busiest holiday ski days. And have a lot of fun doing it. It sounds like @SpeedyKevin is looking for a private lesson. That's better suited for a full-time instructor.

David Hawtrey is an excellent recommendation with the bonus that if you ski well enough for him, he'll award you a gold pin (don't count on it). He's a ski school supervisor, instructor trainer, PSIA examiner who may be hard to book for a private. Most examiner-level instructors at MMSA are supervisors or have some executive responsibility.

Many MMSA instructors teach great intermediate lessons. If you can schedule an off-holiday midweek time, you'll likely have a good experience. You might also think about a multi-day clinic. Top instructors teach those.

My first year was about 82. I remember going up to mid area via that double T-Bar

Thank you! So what were the last few lifts to be added? It looks like Chair 9 (Cloud 9) was already in as far as I can tell....
Chair 9 was in, but was long and slow until it was made high-speed.
A lot of history at http://www.skilifts.org/old/ca-mammoth.htm

Chair 20 https://jollyturns.com/resort/united-states-of-america/mammoth/lift/chair-20
Chair 21 https://jollyturns.com/resort/united-states-of-america/mammoth/lift/chair-21

The next two built in 1982 were the big ones, providing (much easier) access to expert terrain.
Chair 22 https://jollyturns.com/resort/united-states-of-america/mammoth/lift/chair-22
Chair 23 https://jollyturns.com/resort/united-states-of-america/mammoth/lift/chair-23

jollyturns says no chair 24 (removed in 2000). Chair 25 is often the first to soften and turn to corn during Spring conditions.

Thx..
In case some of you are not familiar, SkiMaps is an excellent repository of all things, ski maps the world over... ;-) They have them for Mammoth going back to 1965.

The 2 other sites for ski lifts are excellent and was not aware.
this is very cool!!!!

I agree 4str , the bottom half of drop out and wipe out is the only terrain at mammoth that having the
” right “ ski can really help !!
Or young legs of course.
