Appalachian has announced that Sunday will be their last day, closing at 5pm for the season. I'll be there from about 11am til 2ish

Just an FYI... Timberline, Massanutten, Liberty, Whitetail, and Roundtop all close after Sunday, March 20th.

Weather has gotten a little less rainy this weekend, Both Sat and Sun look dry by 11am. But Saturday is temps in the 60s and Sun is temps in the 40s. So, back to Sunday.

Thinking I'll do an overnight trip to snowshoe soon. Watching the weather and other options...

Watch your skis, bring a slush-breaker structure and high temp wax like crazy.

Every runout and every lift approach is a bog-down. Transfer trails are a slog. Green trails are harder than blue by lunchtime because lack of drainage.

I mean, sure, you can stay over on WT all day because the gradient is fairly steady but it's ribbon skiing at this point.

But beyond all that, should be pretty sweet.

Gas tank full $$
Lift ticket paid and reserved to pick up at noon $$
Will set GPS for Appalachian and hit the road around 8:30am.

Should be fun for awhile..

Winter desperately trying to hang on (from just outside of Greenbank)

Warm bluebird day at snowshoe. The word of the day is "grabby" even with freshly waxed skis. Definitely messes with your fore/ aft balance. Fun day all in all.

So Beech and Sugar are still spinning the lifts after all. Sugar even still has night skiing. Good for them!
