I was in Florida on May 10 finishing up a trip to see my mom, dad, and brother. When I got back, a snowstorm started on Mt Hood so I skied Thurs/Fri May 12/13 and it was fantastic.

Snowing all day Thursday , some Thurs night and Friday was sunny and cold. Then it warmed up quickly on Friday and became packed heavy wet, but fun skiing.

Many other ski areas are closed for the season, so there was a big influx of skiers and snowboarders to Timberline, hoping to get more runs in. I took some videos of them going off of the big jumps. Truly impressive. My season will end May 31. I've skied 63 days and am hoping to get 65 (my age) before the season's end.

We have the most snowpack of the season right now at 175" depth at the lodge. The graph below shows the average snow for all seasons combined, along with this season's snowpack. It's been a great April and early May for skiing.

The Good - it was a rainy day so there were no lift lines and the snow was nice
The Bad - it was a rainy day so I was head to toe Gore-Tex. Things were getting a little dank after 3 1/2 hours
The In-between - invisibility was bad enough at times that I had to slow down and it was good at times when I could just let them run.

There is still really good coverage on the upper mountain. Some of the sunny side areas have melted out spots but you can easily avoid them. There's enough snow so that you can ski all the way to the base, although it's getting sketchy the last 300 feet
I had a goood time

There were areas of bare ground at the bottom of this run in February

This was my third day on the Augment 98's that I bought from Phil. I will try to post to review in the Augment thread. Very short version, what a ski

Bachelor is off the chart. 1" of new @ 20°f on a smooth ice base groomer for race course quality carving. It's your own private ski resort.

Day 64 of the ski season at Timberline Lodge . Snowing hard, powder skiing. Last run the sun popped out for a bit and I saw some shadows. We got 6" today. There was some periods of white-out non-visibility, and periods where the wind was unpleasantly strong.

I had to put the chains on to get to the lodge. What a pleasant late spring snow shower surprise.

Here's how hard it was snowing: https://youtu.be/attVSJPrj0g

I think there is maybe 1 more day of skiing for me before the winter season ends on May 30th.

Today was officially end of year for me, even downloaded for the first time this year.
Plenty of snow in alpine some fresh (heavy) tracks even today but lifts are still closing Monday.
The ucoming summer ski season is best left for for bump and ariel camps.

Been an interesting year for me , first surprised I was able to ski again, followed by discovering groomers are actually not worse that the alternative, and eventually realizing I just needed to stuck it up a bit I wasn't going to shatter on impact, and get back on the program. Still not back at the level I'd like to be, leg strength still lacking but there is always next year.

(Apologies to the Leaf's fans for borrowing their annual spring slogan)

onto the short summer in PNW, with any luck will ski with some of you next year

Crystal, Sunny Sunday
It was the last day of the season for the Ranier Express Chair and probably for me. Crystal will only have the gondola and the Green Valley Express running from here on out on weekends only.
We were there pretty early and got on the gondola about 10 buckets back. Things were a bit firm in the shade right off the bat but softened nicely. Lots of nice sunshine till about 1 o'clock when clouds started rolling in but it was still good. The spring corn snow was really good just about everywhere. Sunnyside [a nice legitimate off piste black diamond] delivered big time, it was worth multiples. Iceberg was springy snow and about as good as Iceberg gets. The edges of lucky Shot were lots of fun. Green valley was Primo too, except early on West face was firm firm. The lift line in Green Valley never got more than 5-7 minutes and most of the time it was less than that. The line on Rex was never bad. We did take a lunch break at the bottom and took the gondola back up aout 12 o'clock-ish and the line wasn't bad at all then. The only downside to the day was on the way home. There was a big wreck at Federation Forest. It blocked traffic for about an hour and a half. Fortunately we were in the Naches Tavern and just hung out drinking beer. The Nachez was doing land office business with about a 15 minute wait to get a beer and a one hour wait to get food. It was the last day of the season for us but it was a grand way to go out.

Beer line is out the door

Quite likely the last day of the season for skiing. Very slushy and warm. It is day 65 of the season to match my age. The Palmer lift is now operating, ready for summer season which starts May 31.

Here's a short video showing the Palmer lift: https://youtu.be/lAnldMZrTN4

It has been a great season. 47 days at Timberline, 9 days at Meadows, 8 at Skibowl, and 1 at Anthony Lakes. 2.6 days per week on average.

Still plenty of snow, but summer activities are calling me, and the snow quality is just not that good. I'll leave the snow for other people to push slush around all summer.

how’d ya like that place? I skied one super day at that tow rope hill out by joseph. Crazy good snow but very limited terrain. I still had a blast! Ive often wondered about the backcountry out that side of the state…

^Anthony Lakes. Ferguson Ridge is by Joseph. Both have expectional snow quality.

I've skied both Anthony Lakes (between Baker City and La Grande), and Ferguson Ridge (by Joseph). Both are 1-lift operations (chair at Anthony Lakes, T-bar at Ferguson Ridge). Anthony Lakes is higher elevation and more terrain.

Here's a photo of the T-bar at Ferguson Ridge: T-bar.jpg
