It's that time of year!

I just got an email from the Indy Pass, one of the newest additions is Mt. High. It makes for an interesting mix with Snow Valley also being on the pass.

$299. $399 without blackouts. A bit superfluous for California folks as none of the CA resorts have blackout dates.
BBMR doesn't have blackout dates but Mammoth and Palisades both do. It is a bit superfluous. If I buy something additional, I'll buy the snow jam card for use at Snow Valley because it's cheap and gives:
  • First Visit = 50% off
  • Second Visit = FREE Lift Ticket
  • Third Visit = 50% off
  • Fourth Visit = FREE Lift Ticket
  • Fifth Visit = 50% off
  • Sixth Visit = FREE Lift Ticket
  • Seventh Visit= 50% off
It also gives admission to the Snowjam ski show and swap which get additional free weekday lift tickets. Last year they had Mammoth lift tickets - 2 days for $169 (valid early season), 4 days at Baldy for $100, 1 Free Snow Valley midweek, 1 free Brianhead midweek, and 1 free Eagle Point mid week.

In the past, It's only been $25 and you don't have to go to the show in person to get the lift tickets. They have a virtual "show" where you can redeem them. The show has some great discounts on clothing and skis though. I used to enjoy going when I lived in San Diego and we bought a few sets of skis there at good prices.

They don't have the cards on sale yet, but here is the info. If Baldy gets snow this year, those 4 for $100 are golden tickets!

Snowjam

ETA- the Baldy Tickets are only available in person, at the show

It's grown considerably and there are some evacuation orders for areas of BB, particularly by Snow Summit. Last I heard, the flames were only 500 ft away from Summit infrastructure. Here are a few pics I grabbed off some cams.

Also Bear Mountain, I beleive; all the water guns are going at both resorts and helicopters are dipping into the lake and the snow making ponds.. There are no shots from Summit Cams at the peaks, as they are covered in fire retardant.

I was not far from the outbreak yesterday. I'm not far from flames now, but currently not in danger or under evac, but I'm prepared. PXL_20220906_005954407.jpg PXL_20220906_015704841.jpg These are from yesterday.

Lots of aircraft are working overtime to contain the Radford fire. Here's the flight path of a few. It shows that they're concentrating just above the tops of lifts in some places!

Many thanks and thoughts for all the firefighters protecting people and structures on this fire and others everywhere. It's a very hard and demanding job.

The resort employees were out all night assisting with the fire fighting. They built fire breaks and hosed areas down to keep them wet. Fire trucks were filling their tanks from snow making equipment. No damage has been done at either resort. A sizable amount of terrain between the resorts was charred but not the resorts themselves. There was also plenty of air support as mentioned above.
