Yup you read me correct. Appreciate the sharing of your knowledge on the risks of that tour. It's a daunting prospect to think of getting into.
I can imagine for the never ever it seems like a daunting task to learn the ins and outs of ski touring/snow science etc.

I've been back country skiing for 29 years now. It's sort of like tying my shoes or driving a car at this point. It's just like any regular thing we do and have programmed into our normal day to day thinking and activities. It's very dangerous I suppose but I feel like I clearly see the dangers or possible dangers that may or may not exist and feel extremely comfortable navigating them and the terrain. It's really fun to me.

I don't have any money or wealth other than some sort of counter culture skills and a shit ton of incredible experiences and memories. I think I'm finally feeling very content and happy about my life decisions.

Hopefully we have the 12" or so expected tomorrow at Sunrise, I'll be up there making some turns for a few hours at least before work.

I made it in time to catch the third chair today, it was great up there. I cannot believe Sunrise is closing for mid week operations this week! There is a ton of snow up there.

I wish I would've saved the pics cause it got deleted but someone posted a pic of the new rope tow at Sunrise. It looked like it had been hit by a snowcat and had a panel open and exposed to the snow. Pretty sad honestly.

No biggie. We will soon have a renovated hotel to stay in!!

EDIT: Ok, to be fair, I did read where they bought a new grooming machine.

Sunrise is going to close with a bunch of snow up there. Saturday should have some snow for one last day though.

They have potential to be very successful imho. There terrain isn't very steep and it doesn't have the access to the big side and back country that we have here but 99.99% of Arizona snow sliders don't need that anyways. Sunrise's low angle terrain is plenty enough for most people in this state. Hopefully they figure it out but I'm not sure the Tribe there cares about it.

They should build a slope side casino then use the profits to build new lifts and a new lodge. They should hire me as manager.

Is it true you could get 4k vertical at the Flagstaff Snowbowl hiking up to the saddle?

The saddle is at 11,500. The lowest parking lot is 8500. If you hike to the top of Humphreys Peak it would be 4k vert down to the parking lot but most people ski from the saddle.
