Day 1 for the season at Sunday River. Pretty good conditions. They were blowing snow during the morning/early afternoon. Kinda a damp mix. The snow was pretty good considering it was in the 60's last week in Maine.

Judging by looking at the webcams; day 4 onward, unless I drive back to Austria, are far in the future :
With the exception of the "glacier" which is white but not yet opened, everything else is green with patches of white man made stuff being produced..alas temperatures are too high...
This year it will be really a challenge to see the traditional official Dec 8th opening day actually happening.
And even if they were to opn e the "glacier", I do not fancy skiing in a "fishbowl" (300mt or so of a red run, no matter how steep, plus maybe a km of a flat cat track run, green graded) for the whole season...

Now up to five days on snow:
11/16 - Copper Mountain
11/17 - Keystone
11/18 - Vail
11/19-20 - Breckenridge

Next possible skiing is 11/25 at Killington but looking at the forecast... I may just enjoy some time on the Wahoo Kickr after some media opportunities at the Killington Cup.

My pessimistic view has been upset, apparently, it started to snow up there yesterday, and the webcams are showing "all" white..there's hope, in the end....

Day one at our local hill. They did a great job making snow with two top to bottom runs open (one black/blue one long green), so more variety than usual. My legs said "quit" after about an hour and a half-maybe I shouldn't have done all those leg presses yesterday at the gym............

Day 4 for me today

10/15 Big Snow
11/21 Winter Park
11/22 Copper
11/23 Winter Park

11/25 will be Copper

Best start in years. If Camelback gets open soon (there is snow on trails) could rack up some good numbers before Christmas then on to the main part of the season. 60 days may not be out of the question. A number I haven’t gotten anywhere close to in at least 5 years
