just phoned Elk about senior Tuesday for tomorrow but it does not apply until January. So back on the fence for a last minute decision “later.

Song bunny was open over the weekend. Went to pick up pass at the office, skied a few runs, fell down practicing 1,000 steps, reminded how hard it is to stand up gracefully ( if at all) w70 yr old joints. :) Need to go out & practice in the field here. (Literally). :(

Labrador was open a couple trails from the top, did not make it over.
both are closed for week until “maybe“ Wed...orThurs....or Fri conditions permitting.

Day 7 of my season and 2nd at the home bump (CBK). 3 routes down from the summit and 1 down off Glen + Sun Bowl run and lift. Snow making should allow another route down off of each the Bubble and Glen later this week. Legs are starting to feel good.

I hit Greek Saturday and Elk Sunday afternoon, Elk skied great what was open... hero snow for sure, no crowds at all was a great afternoon.
Enjoy you're day hopefully it skies the same.
Thanks @Scrundy ! Conditions were great again today. Can’t wait for a little more terrain. Hopefully tomorrow…

Going to be interesting over the next 3 days in the Pocono's. Maybe some snow/mix at the beginning and 1 model has some decent accumulation as the front goes by Friday. Oh yea in grand Pocono style we are going to add significant water to the base and then freeze it. At least the backside is going to have good cold for a snow making bonanza. Should have gone this morning as it looks like the moisture arrives tomorrow morning before noon, then Friday (bet they don't open) , Saturday (stupid cold wind chills) and Sunday (Christmas) are all out. Will fight the crowds Monday and Tuesday of next week. (Pocono's ie. backyard only place I would do that)

I know OpenSnow isn't the best for T'line... but this is pretty extreme looking:

Look at those predicted wind gusts on the far right! Even if they were open, they might be on wind hold anyway.

-Friday will be quite the day. Rain for two days before and then a 46°F temperature drop at Blue.

-More concerning is New Years. At Blue, we're looking at, at least, a 6-day thaw with highs in the 40's and 50's and where lows never get above freezing. Showers every day.

Where are you getting that forecast? Forecast I saw says cold from after the storm through at least the 28th and maybe some snow. Now after that or when the cold vacates then it gets warm. Weather guy I monitor says 1st 10 days of January will be warm but winter not over by any means. If they can get down some base over the next week and we can stay away from major rain I'll take the warm break.

Ooh. Will watch the forecast tonight and 1st thing tomorrow morning. If the "rain" can hold off till after noon, I'll do the morning before it all falls apart.

Yes, I'm referring to the period around New Years and after. I should have clarified that afterwards part.

If you asked a weatherman to look out the window and tell you the current conditions, they’d probably only get it right 50%of the time. :D I stopped worrying about anything more than a few days out a long time ago. That being said I’m going to try to get out a couple of times during the week next week just in case…;)

Excellent night at Blue on the winter solstice

-Conditions were dust-on-crust with some deeper piles on the trail margins

-Lots of high school kids and college kids on school break. It was crowded all night.

-Took me 6 runs to warm up. My legs were feeling it from 60k vert last weekend.

Sunsets are a great part of night skiing

10:45 am. Looks on the CBK cam like its starting to transition back to snow. Mountain doesn't look like it took the beating I expected. Still natural snow around. Snow makers were walking around yesterday I assume prepping things for man made blizzard the next few days. No skiing for me this weekend I'll emerge out of my hibernation when the icy blast is over next week. Glad I skied yesterday.

I hit Blue from 8 to 12 this morning. First run down Paradise was pretty icy with plenty of marbles to make it interesting. Pretty par for the course for that trail in the morning but I just about always make it my first run. Never learn . :D Rest of morning I rotated between that lazy mile/falls, coming soon and midway/chute/lower main. Lazy mile was good early on but I really enjoyed midway/lower main.upper part of coming soon was fun but the end had skied off ice hiding In the shadows. Started to get crowded after 11. Overall it was a good morning and will be back Wednesday morning with my daughter.

The guns were going hard and it looks razors edge, upper main and nightmare should be next to open.

My plan is to go on Wednesday AM as well.
I went last week, I forget which day...conditions were pretty nice. Hoping the extra blown snow will cover up those icy spots you mentioned, although that's par for the course at Blue. ogwink
