Sorry the shim is what comes with the AT 14 and the reason for the 24mm heel, I wasn't expecting that. Not using it would likely result in a flat to negative delta when adjusted for an alpine sole.
and without the shim ... the screws would dimple or go through the base (if they weren't swapped out)

That would be a rookie mistake ;)
Rookie? I have seen seasoned pros do it ... myself included. It happens when the lifter falls off in the box and gets missed.

Thanks again, mounted & adjusted AT 14 resulted in a 21mm AFD height, right in line with what you thought.

That is the Freeflex, it connects the heel body to the toe allowing the ski to flex naturally under the binding. It is a metal band under the plastic cover which is mostly cosmetic.

wouldn't the ski flex freely without a connector??

oh so with the freeflex connector thing, the heel can float on the track? with no freeflex the heel doesn't move? so like an attack heel is fixed, but the freeflex 16 with the connector the heel can move/float on the track?
You got it.

You got it.
have you skied it? does it actually ski that much different that fixed attack heel? also, do you need riser plates under the freeflex or can you mount it directly on ski?
