Met up with the Tuesday ride group and went for an adventure in a snow storm tonight. We got a bit lost as trails look different in the snow but a bit of back tracking got us back to known territory and heading back to our cars. It's pretty magical looking out in the woods. This storm is forecasted to bring 6" of snow so the skiing this weekend should be really good!

Thats what proper fat biking looks like! Ive been riding my fat bike just for the studded tires, the 1/4” - 1/2” of compact ice covering the gravel forest roads isn't very great. Winter is off to a not so great start here. 2 storms dropped about 10” each time but rain and warm temps melted it away…

Riding on some ice and dirt and then it started snowing and you couldn’t really tell what was ice or dirt or both. Pretty good, tho’, didn’t wreck, just ride out those rear tire side slips.

Ride these drops blind because they wouldn’t be icy right.

Anything from 45nrth. Thats pretty much the only brand that any of our LBSs carry up here for studded tires of all sizes. The Wrathchild comes in a 29x2.6 studded variant.

Off to ski for 9 days. But first, the Christmas Eve storm came back around for two additional rounds on the 26th. Not a ton of snow, but also a perfect packed soft layer with great grip and temps in the upper 30’s. I don’t ride here much in summer as it’s just chunky and low pitch with sand buildup behind trail erosion control. But ton of fun in the winter with the right snow amounts.
