The T-bar. Unfortunately the camera focused on my cable, not the people

Gray cold and probably solid.

First trail was pretty rough. Solid moguls with rough solid tops. Early motto was “Embrace the horror”

The Markers ? on some trail.

When we got higher there was breakable crust of top of decent snow. One the woods got skied a bit and we broke the crust down it was nice.

Saddleback has some great tree runs with good flow. If the snow had been “normal”, it would’ve been spectacular. Lots of places would open up to being skied.

Scruffy, aveski, Jen, Alan, Tony, GuyinShorts, Mrs GiS.
That long wide groomer at the top had a very strong wind blowing straight up it. The top was comical in how bad it was getting hit by ice pellets before dropping in

Someone on Blossom Follow Me's? I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Blosssom FIS SL's in 165cm (Same ski I think). Seems like a goof NE ski. Wish I was there but I'm adopting a dog this weekend.

What’s wrong with this picture? I think they were trying to figure something out… @Tony S and @DebbieSue, care to explain?

When the lifts are closed and you can’t work on your skiing, time to work on how you LOOK while skiing. It’s important.

Sugarloaf
Ended up a good day.
Just too crowded with too many intersections. Many with steep groomers leading in. When most of the non groomed is a crusted mine field everyone ends up on the steep groomers.
No photos today! Too cold, too concerned.

Sugarloaf report. Started out with a warmup on Tote Road (as opposed to Stowe's "Toll Road" or Sugarbush's "Troll Road"). All these "S" mountains with "T" Road trails! Can't we get some variation here?

Tote Road is a nice rolling groomer that had the consistency generally associated with marble countertops. I quickly decided it was going to be a "groomer zoomer" day.

Different areas of the mountain had different snow; Timberline and King Pine areas on the far edges had decent snow,, everything in the middle was New England Loud Powder.

Had one comical run off the top with @Marker ; we started down something and Mrs. Marker noticed that it was wind-blasted solid ice and took the last exit. I, however, got stuck. Some jump turns on the thin ribbon of loose snow on the side and some sideslips got me out. Met back up with the Markers at the pre-arranged destination of Whiffletree lift.

Saw some people hiking for the backside snowfields which I thought was an interesting way to die. I did speak with somebody on the lift who had tried it; they confirmed my suspicision that the backside snowfields -- while open -- weren't worth skiing. I did hear from @ScottB that Brackett Basin was surprisingly good though.

Overall, fairly crowded with the usual dubious control exhibited by the masses. Laser AR's worked fine, but they need some room to roam which isn't necessarily a wise idea on crowded trails. Should have taken out the SC's, but whatever.

It snowed a few inches last night. Off to Saddleback today.

When the others were exploring the Saddleback trees, we went cruising with @MarkP

Somehow we lost most photographic proof of our bump runs. Warden's Worry and the upper liftline bumps were more our speed with @MarkP , although did have to navigate a short section of trees to get into them, but our last run of the day down Professor was just a bit much for Jane and I.

A nightcap to end the day. Buffalo Trace for me and Glenlivet 12 for her. Glasses courtesy of VRBO!
