what do you call this stuff? It almost self-dries, and kinda melts snow from on top of it? There has to be a specific name for this; Fairfax Co. have specced it for almost all their park trails.

Isnt that cinder stone?

On the running track (bottom pic), sure.

So what is that whitish/beige flakey granite-derived stuff that packs down firm enough to be ridden with 19mm tires?

In winter it's better at draining, better at not allowing ice, better at reducing snow on top of it, than any common cinder mix I've ever seen.

If there is anything good about the lack of snow and temperatures 7-12C during the day is I did 360 km outdoors in the first week of the year. First time ever, yay!

That's trippy! Fog is kinda a novelty for me.. we don't get much of it so I find it really cool to see. (Ice fog doesn't count. I have plenty of that and it sucks)
