Philpug:
Location: Mt. Rose
Conditions: Deep fresh powder
Size tested: 188cm
I had the Peak 110 by Bode in our shop for a week or so … unmounted … sitting in the corner … waiting … waiting for enough snow for it to show its chops. Then, that day arrived. Yes, we had some big snow days in Tahoe this past season, but for a 110 to truly be appreciated, we need a deep day …. as much for the ski but for me, I need a wide ski to be in the snow and not just on it, and this was the perfect day to take out the Peak 110.
I mounted up the 110 that AM and got it ready to take up to Rose and headed up in the snow storm. Once at the hill it took me a while to get to the lift because I was stopped numerous times by people asking about the Peak skis. Note to those considering the 110 or any other Peak ski: Plan on getting a lot of questions about the skis.
Conditions were pure bliss, fresh snow coming down and even with the light wind, the snow was light and fluffy. A couple of runs through the trees on the Slide side the 188’s, which would seem long, were extremely nimble and skied easier than you would expect a ski of this size. Bode did a very good job with the balance of rise in not only the tip but again just the right amount in the tail. The longer radius in the mid body created a stability that the shorter radius skis just cannot match.

- Insider Tip: Don’t let the size fool you.
- One thing I would change: 7-8cm size increments, 10cm is too much.
- Who is it for?
- Chargers, the Peak 110 by Bode has a high speed limit.
- Who is it not for?
- The biggest skiers might run out of ski.
