Happy New Year! Was lucky to spend a couple days this week at Sugarbush to kick off the season and bid good riddance to 2020. Overall, we felt they did a good job of managing things in the time of Covid and the conditions, even with the limited open terrain, were "pretty good for New England".

Tues 12/29 was a great bluebird day with 2-3" of new snow having arrived overnight, though a bit chilly with strong winds
Wed 12/30 was mostly overcast but warmer and not much wind, the tradeoff of course being plenty of extra crusty hardpack and more icy spots

No issues getting Mountain Collective passes activated (having set up on-line account ahead of time, along with the required Covid attestation). Crowds were relatively light given what would normally be a huge time of year between the holidays. The indoor areas were very well managed, and they did so-so with socially distant lift lines, keeping one party per lift ("ride with who you came with, else alone")

You can use specific areas of the various lodges and buildings for warming up - must check in/out
You can pre-order/pay for food/drinks (via the Sugarbush app) and reserve a table to eat inside with time limits etc. No lines or waiting inside. Can also order to-go.
No moving around to different parts of the lodge building inside -- all exterior doors are "single function", with access only to Restrooms, Cafe, Rentals/Shop, etc.
Of course masks at all times except when seated for eating/drinking, including lift lines.

Overall, while different, it wasn't as restrictive/annoying as one might have imagined. Hopefully people stick to similar protocols everywhere so the season can continue safely until mass vaccinations are a reality.
