Adding Base Structure

Hello,
I have young racers in the family. Typically, I have their skis professionally tuned and base grinded at the start of each season. As we approach near the end of season and snow is getting wet and moist, I notice their ski bases have worn out. Yet they still have a few races left. I would to add some base structures myself for now to minimize water suction drag. Question - to add some base structure at home, would you use sandpaper (eg. 250 and then 150 grit) or Steel brush? Any suggestion would be much appreciated.

What you are trying to prevent is surface tension between the two surfaces-the wetter the snow, the greater the tension. . Scotch Brite pads ( check grit equivalents ) can do this although there are likely better things . ^
If you go the Scotch-Briteor sandpaper route, don’t forget to back the pad/paper with a stiff block
