I am a total sucker for a rally-look wheel/tire combo. Not necessarily the Ford ones. Definitely the Peugeot 3008 DKR ones.

Ford factory rally package, kinda meh tho still better than anything on the prior page.

You need Deep Dish Chrome Reverse Wheels with Baby Moon Hubcaps. They will do wonders for the vehicle.

BTW, are you aware that Tire Rack has a nifty set-up where you can veiw your car model with the different wheels? And you can even change the color of the car to match yours. Helps a lot with deciding what might look good (or not-so-good...)

I put BBS wheels on my Subi as winter only wheels. Some people seem to have a problem with that. Went down a size for taller tires. Nokian hakkapeliittas. Summer gets the OEM wheels--new tires, however.

Are the E-stang group of folks less concerned with wheel aerodynamics than the Tesla group? Just curious. I hit the macheforum and there is a lot of wheel chatter around appearance.
Definitely discussion of range penalty as it relates to rolling resistance and aerodynamic properties of a wheel but not enough to make people consider not getting their own wheels. Opinions vary but seems like people are accepting a 5 to 10% range penalty depending on their wheel and tire configuration. Always tradeoffs right? I plan to keep my OEM wheel/tire setup for a bit in case I have any issues or concerns with my new setup.

Have you seen what people put on pickup trucks?? I don't think people mind spending extra dough for fuel, whatever that may be..

Different vehicles, use cases, and drivers, for starters.

I've seen lots of "if you care about MPG, why'd you buy a truck?" responses when people in truck groups/forums ask about crappy mileage. The reality is that—for what a modern half-ton can do—the gas mileage available from the factory is actually amazing, and of the incredible number of pickup trucks on the road today, plenty of drivers just buy 'em and drive 'em. They don't hang out it in the online forums, install bigger wheels and tires and lift kits, or what have you.

Of course, the biggest impact on fuel efficiency on most vehicles is the loose nut connecting the seat to the steering wheel. I'm pretty sure I could make a Prius get crappy mileage, and I wouldn't have to try that hard.

Kinda self-selecting tho, isn't it?

"Oh hey, I just bought this F150, but I'd really like it to look like a Honda Insight! Please help!"

Bringing it back to this thread, if OP wants to do a smooth, raked undertray and a deep diffuser - that could be interesting.

I should add that folks are reporting, almost universally, a significant increase in ride quality, smoothness and handling which they feel is well worth whatever range penalty they are paying. YMMV..literally. All depends on what matters to you.

My point is, appearance is often more important to people than function. Don't underestimate people's ability to withstand increased cost/decreased range solely to make things look different...

The Mach E is pretty slick already under there..but the diffuser could be neat...

I promised before/after pix. Here they are. After is on the left and OEM is on the right. I went slightly wider with the tire/wheel combo but nothing crazy. Sure enough, its a noticeably softer ride (which I was looking for) and improved handling. I like the look better too. I don't know how much range penalty, I will pay but I will try and do best guesstimate over the coming weeks. Those aren't the worst OEM wheels ever....just a bit more chrome/pizza cutter then I prefer. Overall, I'm happy with the upgrade both in form and function.

Same size tires?
Now you can offer your own advice in the rim department. People lose their minds.

I remember years ago there was this guy on Long Island who had a show and use to “customize” cars. Sports people would buy a new Ferrari or Lambo, and he would put these gigantic rims on them. Basically, turning them into cosmetic props. Hitting a bump or pot hole at speed would destroy these rims that a factory one would survive.
He did so much business with this, or just had publicity, Pirelli made him a special 30 inch tire to hang on the wall.

Always dudes doing things that are kinda gimmicky but I guess it takes all kinds.

Tires are almost identical...slightly wider to match the wider wheel. Tires are 245/50/19. I think the whole setup fills the wheel well up appropriately without rubbing. The shop where I had them put on said I could've even gone slightly wider but I didn't see any real reason to do so. This is my second car/truck that I've gone with aftermarket tires/wheels. I'm pretty hooked but I probably wouldn't do it in certain circumstances....like when I help my teen buy a boring, safe mid-level sedan for him. The OEM wheels will work just fine. :)
