I owned a pair of the original Burt bindings not the Comp or the II and they were the heaviest binding ever. They were mounted on my Olin Mark IV's, not my best combination and I got rid of them fast. I never got to ski the Mark IV's with a different binding so I am guessing it was not the skis fault but the weight of the Burt bindings that I did not like.

Burt had a spokes person that went around to different ski shops and shows to promote the binding he called himself Billy Burt, he was a nice enough guy and could do a lot of tricks on the bindings but the size and the weight was the cause that it just did not sell. When it got the nickname yo-yo binding people also stayed away because skiers of the time were not big on change if that change came at a higher price.

I'd like to weigh them agaist the Line Reactor.

For some reason the number of 6 LBS sticks in my head. I do not remember if that is each or for the pair.

I love the 70s for its ultra wacky inventions. Spademan bindings, Olin cracked edges, Scott Boots, one piece ski suits (erh scratch that last one)...
