Yeah, i tried them, nothing special at the time.

But old skis are not like old wine, they don't get better with age.

Nothing special at the time, what was special that you thought was better?
I still have a pair of VR 27 SL and with a good sharpening and wax they ski better than most I have skied and I have tried a lot of skis.

Neither for me but we can have an appreciation for them. Using your logic, there is no reason to collect antiques, vintage or antique cars, 78 records because none of them have gotten better with age either.

For me, There were many skis of that era that I liked better, Rossi ST, Pre 1200 SP, Dynastar Omeglass to name a few. I just never got the Dynamic mistique.

I wouldn't go that far, but I do enjoy being on old skis. I appreciate the way the old school technique comes right back.

Preserving the old is an important part of enjoying the present.

My experience with Dynamic started with admiring Killy and my down the road neighbor Tyler Palmer. Then I got my own VR17s and, either coincidentally or by design, my racing career took off. Hence my love of Dynamic.

I have never skied the Pre 1200, but the Rossignol ST and the Dynastar Omeglass are similar skis, both are fine skis. I wish I had a buck for every ST I sold, it it would help pay for some new skis. The ST's do have their own following, I think they fall into two groups, the wood core and the foam core. Not sure what one is better.

I do appreciate old racing cars and i had a couple, but for me at least, old skis are different.

On the other hand, i ski every day on metal katanas, a design that's 10 year old.

But they fit my skiing style.

I would also ski a 20 year old bump ski, provided it wasn't completely dead.

But vr 27?

Where you would have to make windshield wiper turns in order to make short turns on something steep?

I have a pair on my rack, 1989? VR27s 210cm. Ski them now and then they turn like 70s Olds Cutluss compared to new technology.

Well your VR 27's are the GS model and 210 GS skis would be more work to turn than a SL model.

I am not going to make ultimate 4 person shot skis with these Lange skis after all.
That’s because I am pretty sure these are VR-17’s in disguise.

Talk a photo of the bottom of the tip and if the double bars of Dynamic is on the tip you probably are correct. If the Lange logo is on the bottom of the tip it may or may not be VR 17's.

“Lange” under the tips.
These are Dynamics. Lange was the importer and branded these at the time.

Does it have a manufacturer or made in location?

USA on the sidewall but I think that is associated with the Lange brand.
I cannot seem to find anymore printed info.

I did see this Lange advertisement on the World Wide Web (Pugski cataloged tag too);

IIRC, 'Lange' skis were rebranded Dynamic for a while, then actually manufactured in the US becoming truly Langes.

@RickyG , I believe, may have more information on this?
