The first pair of skis I purchased was a Fischer President RS Combi 200 CM and at the time (1967) they were part of Garcia. My uncle had a friend he did business with that was high up in the Garcia management and I got them at cost. My second pair of Fischer skis were a very early vintage RC 4 Vacuum that was a metal sandwich GS racing ski not long after they came out with the Cap style ski shown in post number 12 of this thread. In that same add the Cap style ski has a 1 - 3 - 10 trapezoid side angle that was new at the time and liked the way looked. I have skied on a few other Fischer skis on demo days but did not purchase any of them, not because they were bad skis but just because there are so many others to ski.
In the OP article The Fischer Story it said in 1964 The Olympic Downhill was won by Egon Zimmermann on a Fischer ski. Aside from being a cool ski name Egon was the Beconta rep for the shop I worked. I met him several times and he is a cool guy, very easy to talk with soft spoken and a real gentleman. At the time Beconta did not have Fischer skis because Garcia had Fischer.
