Phil's opinion and negative evaluation are interesting.
Skis that are soft but have no rebound are not very comfortable.
Comparing all years, which OLIN is Phil's best?
Rossignol is not eligible because he is too good a child (lol)

At some point , I owned a pair of MK 111 S and I loved them in powder .
The skis were perfect as long as it was not icy ... the Salomon bindings on them were crap ... even at the max setting , they were throwing me out after a change of resistance ( bumps , deeper snow ) . I suspected the springs were from a bad batch ... Not being rich - as always - I sold them to a guy with more money than I had.
The thing is ... I have a pair waiting for me in France , a gift from a friend . Alas it is in France : how can I get them here ???

Overall , my take , nice skis if you had a quiver . Having them as your only pair would have been boring !

I was following an auction on eBay once for a cool pair of what appeared as European only Fischer RC4 Carbon with cool graphics. The price was a little high but after a while I finally decided to bid and I won. These were in England.
When it came time to determine shipping cost, well it was pricey.
For some reason the seller had to choose quick delivery, his only option. The good news is they arrived in NC in just a couple of days !

I found the III S to have no rebound, as far as my favorite Olin's the Mark IV and Comp IV and the black VI.

Shipping to Canada has always been very expensive !!
Thus I hope to be able to go back to Biarritz and get them by myself .
Imagine : a $25 used book costs , in shipping , $22 to be carried here by mail ... the distance is 115 kms by the hiway . Cost less to go and buy books in Maine than order in Québec !! I remember that my MKIII were less lively than the PRE1200 . The PRE were better in powder but the Olin were very much OK .
Now I would like to try the VCE if only I could get my hand on a pair .

No snow here and , anyway , I have to stay calm for the next month as I just got operated on for cataracts .
If you see some cheap VCE , let me know !

When I bought the DTSL on ebay I was informed that shipping would be $500-600 because it was too long. It's a $64 Skis (lol)

Fortunately, the seller did his best and shipped it one way via courier for travelers. Shipping cost was halved (but it was expensive) https://www.shipskis.com/

In the end, I bought the Mark III S (smile).

I really wanted to get the poles.

Compared to the Mark VI, I found that the Mark III S is softer and has a lot of camber.

I'm hoping that it will suit me well, as I'm small and my muscles have weakened.

The Mark IV is very popular, but I'm not from my generation, so I don't know why. I do think that the orange skis are beautiful, though...

I am not sure if the VCE’s are all that they are cracked up to be.
Haha

That could be interesting !
I know that , in Italy , they still have a lot of old Persenico/Spalding skis like the '' Formidable '' that I would very like to try . I could wait to have enough money to get there again ... but why wait ?? I will think about it as soon as I get a new job !

I'd like to discuss the details of the Mark IIIS with you all at a later date.

Purchasing them at the same time as the skis was a big expense, but I got some unique items.
BOOTS with OLIN stamp.
The shape is similar to the FT from 10 years ago. The buckle looks like a Roxa?
It seems to be an entry-level model and does not have a wrap liner, the cant adjustment is fixed, and the tongue flex is listed as 4, which is soft.

Incidentally, I am a fan of Raichel/FT boots (I got rid of my Raichel from 25 years ago when it shattered into pieces).

Cool ski boots!
I am not a boot expert but those are cool.

Just found some OLIN MARK V skis on eBay- this link will have a shelf life:

I've had my eye on this Mark V for a while.
When I suddenly looked at the image, I felt that it was not a crack edge.
Am I mistaken in thinking that all Mark series models have a crack edge?

EvenI'm also looking for some K2 skis (Glen Plake's 91-92 Extreme and the Jonny Moseley Five M with absorbent lights from the Nagano Olympics).
if the Mark XXV was manufactured by K2, I'm confident that I would buy it if I had one in front of me!It may be too rare to use (smile)

In the 1970’s as a teenager I went on a 5 day Canadian ski trip to Mount Tremblant (traveling from Long Island, NY with high school classmates and the Greyhound size Bus was full!)
Meanwhile I traveled there with two pairs of skis:
190 Fischer C4’s and 205 OLIN MARK l’s.
:)

Very good choice of skis ...
But the choice of destination ????
I went once in Tremblant end of the '70 and it was boring .... Smaller hills in Québec are much more interesting .
But it is my opinion ...

I have owned these since 1983 in 205cm.
I thought I had the right ski when I tried them on a NASTAR run but I did much better when I switched to my 195 Fischer C4 cut 66 skis.
These Red MARK ll’s are super stiff!
Maybe they will come alive at Down Hiil race speeds!
SuperG would be their thing ... a Nastar SuperG ...
