I remember that ad, but never did figure out what it was for or what they were selling.. There was far to much other scenery to focus on other than whatever the actual product was somewhere in that photo.

But that ski tote didn't really do anything a home made Texas suitcase can do.

This one is goofier than the Texas Suitcase! I think it would be hard to balance.

The metal hoop type baskets from that era is the key component that keeps the pole tips together.
That won't work with newer ski poles that have plastic baskets.

Sure it did, it came with a lock. :D

Yeah, I wish I had kept locking up my skis with my Ski Tote. I stopped because well, nobody else was doing it and I was a really insecure 18-year-old and I didn't want to be different. :nono:. Then my Red Sleds got stolen at Winter Park and it kind of started a downward spiral in my life.

It works best if the tips and tails have bands around them to hold them together. I have done it with plastic baskets because they can be locked together tip of pole into the other pole basket.

Like so many things in our hobby, the plastic gets old and brittle. I've repaired this one twice now. I don't use it to lock up my skis though, I use it to lock up my SkiTrax so I don't have to carry them in my pockets. Looks dumb as hell chained to the base of a ski rack but it beats having to have them in my pocket. haha

Found this today .... this is my lucky weekend
A brand new Ski Tote still in its wrapping ... with the price on it ... I think it was $24.99 at the time , the "2" was scraped off .
The new version with the cable lock .
Also the sticker with the translation , mandatory in the province .

Now , what should I do with it ?
It never came with the lady I see on earlier posts ... a shame as I am a widower ... could be that she was a separate article !

Late 1980's , obviously ... the dust I see in archeological !!!

I'm not sure why you would need directions to use this item but here they are.

The recoiler lock in the day was quite a smart device, arguably ahead of its time, but the ski tote...... sigh. Their international sales guy effect told me 'look we have no idea who buys these, we think that they're mainly bought as gifts for skiers by friends and relatives who have either never skied or are desperate to find a gift' [probably in a hurry].
