So what have you held onto or sniffed out to buy for a Retro day on the mountain. There is the old school stretch wool pants (with foot stirrups!) and fashionable sweater period, then there is the crazy colors of the 80's into the 90's. One piece fart bags, Moriarty hat's and even glow on the snow gloves! Eyewear is most definitely included here so lets see some great old skiwear!!!
This is some of my stuff, so if you see it , it just might be me next to you on the chair lift

I have a bunch, but only a few photos. I will take some better ones later, but here are some items I actually owned and have kept. The first is my high school outfit, blue down Roffe jacket and black Roffe stretch pants (ok, the pants aren't the actual ones I wore in high school :cool:but the same exact style).

Then the Mother Karen's powder shirt; this might have even been from junior high.

Sweater to match the Roffe stuff, I think it's by Meister. (And @dean_spirito, of course, who is wearing the ultimate in retro onesies)

Then we graduated on into college with The North Face Extreme anorak. Usually I wore it with a pair of red Gore-tex pants from Windy Pass but I can't find a photo yet. Does anyone remember Windy Pass? It was The North Face's foray into cheaper (ie made abroad) clothing.

This was a recent score from etsy but I will include it because although I had no Ellesse ski wear in high school, I loooooved the tennis clothing.

I will photograph the rest of my stuff later; I have amassed quite a bit, due to Mother's Day gatherings + etsy (which is a treasure trove for really awesome vintage ski sweaters).

Wow, you guys rock!
I often regret doing away with some of my old ski togs, primarily the quality woolen and down goods (although precious little of it would fit).
Somewhere there is a guy sitting outside a rescue mission wearing my Gerry down parka with a Demetre sweater and Roffe stretch pants.

^^When I was a kid, I had a big yellow belted Gerry down parka that I wore with navy stretch pants that had the rainbow stripe down the side. Wish I still had those! (Not that I could wear them, obviously)

Quick story.
At 16 this kid from Virginia made his first unescorted trip out west - to ALTA of all places - after skiing at tiny hills like Bryce Mountain, Massanutten, and Canaan Valley. It was spring break 1974, and the snow was piled to the second floor of the Alta Peruvian Lodge.
Day 1 he wore blue Roffe stretch pants (size 30!) and a white Fred Perry tennis sweater - very stylish!. Blue sky, fresh snow, and terrain he had only dreamed about painted an idyllic picture, until an inevitable tumble and a windmilling ski (remember those safety :nono: straps), the edges of which struck savagely in front of his the right ear, resulted in a torrent of blood covering that white sweater.
After a sled ride down the mountain and a few sutures, an orange Gerry goose down parka cried out, "buy me, buy me - with your parents MasterCard."
The new Patagonia stuff has nothing on those Roffe wool-blend stretch pants and that impossibly light and miraculously warm goose down parka!

Here's a prediction. We will see the return of stretch pants some time soon.

Just look around and see how ubiquitous black tights and stretch jeans have become in the distaff wardrobe.

And I welcome their return.:crossfingers:
