I always wanted to ski a pair of these, a friend had a pair but he had a size 13 foot so no way I could step into his.

The Tiger that we sold was a Jr. ski a very good Jr. ski.

That brings up a great point, are the manufactures still doing this? For racing and/or high end recreational juniors? Or are we now sending them to the shorter unisex (and age) offerings? Most juniors will of course be thin for their height (is this even still true with the ever growing obesity problems we are now seeing?)

What age/size were skiers considered juniors?

Two of the four shops that I worked in did a big Jr. ski business one sold Rossi, Kastle, and Volkl the other sold Blizzard, Dynamic, and Fischer. I attended many company provided training sessions every year and I will share what these company tech reps provided.

1. Most Jr. skis are made up to size 170 CM I think one company made a 175 CM.
2. Jr. skis are made in beginner, intermediate and advanced just like adult skis
3. The 170 CM will work well for a skier up to 140 LBS but the ski had to match the skiers ability.
4. It is acceptable to put a light weight adult on a Jr. ski again the ski had to match the skiers ability but suggested age limit was14 years old.
5. The Jr. model was manufactured just like the adult version of the same ski.

This applies to the years I worked in the ski business, starting with the season of 1971 - 1972 and lasting for 18 seasons what they do now I do not know.

I wouldn't mind finding a pair of mid-90s Targa R skis like I used to have...

Been skiing Volkl since way back the '80s. Think I've gone thru about 17 pairs. Still have 4 pairs in my quiver.

Mrs. Grump's first pair of Volkl Targa - April 1987 at Alta.
