Two days after the death/accident at Marble, three very experienced skiers triggered a huge avalanche in Maroon Bowl (just next to Aspen Highlands) that killed one of them. It is not clear where the three were from -- seems like they might have been Europeans -- but the implication is that while highly trained, equipped and experienced, they failed to understand the unique problems and danger that Colorado's Continental Snowpack poses.
