In the early winter of 1971 I lived at the We Ask You Inn on Route 6 for a few months. It was convenient to Vail and cost $140 a month - with sheets and towels. The Eagle Valley was mostly sheep pasture at the time and there wasn't much traffic, though occasionally there was a traffic lamb!

Nice. I think I see a VW Karmann Ghia in that last photo!

I found a couple more worthy photos to post of the We Ask U In Motel (corrected name). Gas was $0.339 a gallon. Thank god I had a Vovo 544 that could get 25mpg. Who could afford those crazy prices! It wasn't luxury, but it was home for a while and I had a blast.

Yep. Lange Standards. Pretty crappy boots but they seemed quite advanced at the time. Hey, I was coming off leather boots probably issued to the 10th mountain division. What did I know? Sad to say that my equipment has never been top shelf - until this year, at age 68. New Salomon S/Max boots and Elan Wingman 82Cti skis. I only had to wait half a century. Damn if I can't ski vastly better than I did at 19, though!
