In intensive care..sounds like some serious stuff..I initially read compound femur fracture..which is nasty. Broken ribs, elbow. Also somewhat distressing is that he was talking incoherently when they first got to him. So head injury is in play as well. Out of the Tour but more importantly, I hope he recovers completely and is well again.

I didn't read anything about being incoherent, but at that speed no surprise. I did read somewhere else that he also has a fractured hip.

Hope he recovers quickly too, but that's not a short road back.

Opens up the tour significantly. Ineos have a clear leader too. Going to be fascinating viewing after an excellent Giro (apart from the old school first week of flat racing).

It was one of the early reports...but I mean there's bound to be some confusion with condition etc. I suppose we'll have to wait until tomorrow to hear more. Apparently hit a wall at about 60kmh.
