The Band making Atlantic City all their own:

... but sorry Levon, the Boss is still the BOSS. Has there ever been a more hopeless/ forlorn lyric than "our luck may have died and our luck may be cold, but with you forever I'll stay"? Bruce crushing Atlantic City:

I'll never say anyone covered a George Jones song better than George, BUT, Amy Grant's version of Bartender Blues is as close as one can get.

Seems to be a lot of Beatles here. Hard to way covers of their tunes are better since they were almost as ground breaking as the blues artists that came before them. A band I was in late 80s did a version of "You Can't Do That" which I wish I had footage of. It went over very well. We only did a couple covers at our shows, that and Oh Girl. Oh one one time, only one time we did Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll. We never even rehearsed this one together but we'd all done it in other bands.

Well, @SBrown and @neonorchid already took two of mine. This is what I consider the best cover of War Pigs. Cake had a contest for fans to make a video. This is one of the entries.

Vocals are better on Cake War Pigs. I like the drum track on the FNM version better though. One is live and the other is studio, apples and oranges maybe?

Even Trent Reznor came around to admitting that this is the definitive version of the song…and this video made by Johnny Cash as he neared death is, well, as haunting as the lyrics of this poignantly sad song:

Joe Cocker's version of "With A little Help from My Friends" topped the Fab Fours
Most of Joe Cocker's are better than the originals.
