The thigh changes from horizontal to more vertical, the knee moves back, the foot and ski move back, the tail of the ski comes up and the tip goes down. The hip is the fulcrum of this levering action.
I can picture this pretty clearly. Nice description, thanks.

^^Yes. But the knee is opening and the feet are reaching for the shoulder of the bump ahead off to the right side of the skier. TG wants the knees to stay closed so the feet remain under the skier. He wants the skier to go over the bump shoulder directly in front, stuffing the tips downward. He does not want the skier to send the feet ahead and off to the side. That leaves them light until they encounter the ramp.

Such great depth back in mid to late 1980's - great contrast from today.
I believe the USA in the 1984 Olympic GS was 1 (Deb), 2 (Cooper), 4 (Tamara).

The next year in Bormio WC's we were 1 (Diann), 3 (Eva), 4 (Deb) in the GS.

Nice! St Caterina (Compagnoni piste) is one of my favorite hills (to ski). Lunch on the other side in Sunny Valley thank you.
