What a shame. Condolences to his family. Always wear a helmet. As we saw with Michael Schumacher and Arne Backstrom, even that is no guarantee of protection in freak falls and accidents.

Yeah, a terrible price to pay. :(
I have gone out in some pretty thin early conditions many times over the decades & probably will again. Hoping this serves as a reminder to be extra cautious. Also remembering that even a manageable slough can sweep a skier into rocks, trees or other obstacles that we may not think about so much with a thick snowpack.
