Just got mine yesterday, 12/8. Cool thing is that I already had it printed at the mountain, so now I have a backup pass just in case.
Not that I would ever lose anything- or misplace things indefinitely.;)
no this is not a backup. when they print a new pass, my understanding is that action would deactivate your old pass, just like if you ask for a replacement credit card, the old one is canceled.
If you were to bring the wrong pass to the line you'd get an error and they'd suspect you might be sharing/misusing a pass and have some explaining to do, plus holding up the line. So if you lose the activated pass, go straight to pass office not the lift. You can bring the copy and they may be able to reactivate that one, but just to save the plastic waste though.

I guess I'd better bring both next time- I'm not sure which is the "live" one- the one that was printed at the mountain and actually used, or the one that just arrived in the mail. Who knows when they activated the one that just showed up? The one I had printed at the mountain could have deactivated the one that just arrived!

Thanks for the heads-up on that- you may have just saved me some trouble on my next visit! Much appreciated.

either stop by the pass office to figure out which is active or keep in separate pockets so you dont get mis scanned, and putaway the deactivated one when you've identified it. I would guess and bet the one you got in person and skied on already is the active one.

Just realized when I read my original post that my last sentence in combination with the winky face makes it sound like I'm trying to pull one over. The point was that I actually do misplace stuff a lot.
I'd like to say it is a getting old thing, (well, middle-aged), but I have always been really talented at misplacing stuff. Must be my stellar system of organization.

lol, I didn't get that from your winky. But the lift scanners at vail resorts are compensated (rewarded) to catch any pass fraud. It's also their whole job. So if they get the wrong beep, they are incentivized to suspect fraud and hold you/escorting you to find out, vs just letting it slide or letting you go to fix it yourself and come back. Even though you are innocent, you still lose valuable slope time on the mtn.
