Rachel Getting Married. (I’m not sure if they released a soundtrack but the music by all the musicians in the move was great).
Monsoon Wedding.

Ok, these are mostly needle drops - not original music written for the film. As far as needle drops are concerned, I’d have to include the Farrelly Bros. , Tarrantino and Scorsese movies amongst the better ones . Original Music; Elmer Bernstein ( North by Northwest and a hundred others ) and a French composer working now... I’m totally blanking on his name and work though

I will second The Big Chill.
And nominate American Graffiti.

Just taking a break from TV to check SkiTalk and saw this thread. I'm in the middle of watching the 1960 version of The Magnificent Seven. Unbelievably great, regal soundtrack, truly elevates the film to iconic status. My wife actually requested to play the first couple minutes of the film over again. From the opening seconds of the film the music starts like a slap to the face to get your attention.
