'cept the "Jersey Shore" people were mostly from New York. That show ruined what the the Jersey shore used to be like (our family owned a house about 2 miles north of Seaside)

Ocean Beach 3, just north of Lavallette.
I know those cottages OB 1, 2, & 3 neat place. I spent a vacation in one of those cottage when I was a kid. A lot of the WW II Veterans purchase them in the mid 50's and early 60's and their kids took them over for their families. A friends family had two side by side and lost them in Super Storm Sandy, had to knock them down and built one house on the two lots. I was surprised they let him do it.

We started vacationing down there in the late 50's, my father bought a house the first row back from the beach in the mid 60s. My mother, sister, and I stayed there the whole summer, and my father would be down there for 3 day weekends and then go home to work (he was a partner in a plastic extrusion company started in the 30's, when plastic was a very new thing). So many homes were destroyed during Sandy that since they allowed the new builds to be elevated (maybe that was even a requirement) that I think a lot of the old rules were thrown out. I know unit 3 was very strict on what you could and couldn't do to a house., I'm sure units 1 and 2 were pretty much the same. The development just north of us (Chadwick Beach) never had much restrictions, so the houses got really tall early on to get as much out of the tiny footprint as possible

If you were to look west across the bay from Chadwick Beach you would see the Silverton section of Toms River NJ. The northern part of Silverton is the location of my summer home. I am one lagoon off the bay. I like to take my kayak out to the bay and just paddle around. It is my little bit of heaven on the water.

American Dream Indoor Mall and Big Snow ski slope may be in trouble. I saw an article that said that they missed a $800 Million bond payment. If you have a package of tickets as I do looks like you better use them soon.

FYI - I received an email today from Big Snow and they are offering an unlimited monthly pass. The first month is $199.99 and any additional months are $79.99. It is interesting but not for me, I would be bored after the first two hours.

The mall has been a financial disaster from the start. It will likely eventually be headed for bankruptcy. I don't expect it would be shutdown in the event of bankruptcy but rather sold to another operator who would try to make another go of it. Like what happened to the Revel casino in Atlantic City
