@Cheizz not falling apart, but broken plastic, problems with brakes and their system to keep brakes up during walk etc. Not sure what year they had but it was 2 and 3 years ago. So it could be they had old ones, but their issues were more or less with heel part of the binding not toe.

OP is talking about skinning up resorts in mid and southern Vermont with modest verticals and skiing back down on pistes or maybe ducking into the woods on the way down if there's fresh to be found. Any touring binding will work for this. Lighter bindings make it easier on the up. Skiing down on a heavier set up is marginally better, but in most conditions, it's hard to tell much difference. Walking up pistes doesn't come close to replicating the beating that bindings take in the wild. Use whatever you want and have fun.
