I was looking at a friend's skis the other day and nearly took them away from him because the bases and edges (...or what was left of them) seemed to have blended together into a mess of scarred, uneven base material surrounded by a battered metal surround which were previously "edges"... .then it struck me...

Do you friends a favor and support your local ski shop by giving the "Gift of Grind" to someone in need. It can be a beginner, intermediate, hot-shot or hopeless romantic who thinks un-trued, dry, abused, scarred base surfaces and rolled, dinged, dulled edges are a badge-of-honor. Call to your favorite tuning shop and get a gift certificate for a full tune and wax job (civilian to race-tune...it depends on your friend) for your. buddy. Shops need the business and your friend needs skis with great glide and edge acuity. This goes for East Coasters and West Coasters.

Tell them to get another certificate for a full tune-job and pass-it-on to someone else THEY know....It will make everyone happy. Send everyone's skis to the Spa.....

Friends don't let friends ski poorly tuned skis.....

It might be better than giving fruitcake and ugly sweaters....but then again... munching fruitcake in a butt-ugly sweater is pretty fun....

Cheers... The season has started!

Very good idea. Don't let friends drive un-tuned skis.
