I'm scheduled for an ablation next week. Feel like I'm getting off easy.
Wow, that sounds nasty. Good to get past that experience! Do the daughters still ski?Separated one side of my sternum from the ribs. I experienced pain there on some torso stretching moves for about a dozen years.
Don't let your enthusiasm reduce your athletic caution
The ICU is one of those places where no matter how bad off you are there's always someone on the other side of the drapes who's got it worse. In 2016 after dropping dead at the gym and getting CPR, I found myself in the ICU for 3 nights. The poor guy next to me pulled out all his tubes in a late night delirium and damn near bled to death. Spoiled my not so peaceful sleep too. But like you @tball after a couple of stents were put in they let me walk out of ICU to the street and go home. Looking back on it I was amazed they let me do that but it gave me such an emotional boost going into cardio rehab phase.I'm so grateful and fortunate to be doing so well. Believe it or not, when I left yesterday, they let me walk (escorted) out of the cardiothoracic ICU on my own two feet, carrying all my belongings across that big hospital to where my wife pulled up the car.
Do you know if you are getting the hot or cold ablation (RF or cryo)? Good luck with it, hope you don't need the Watchman after all.I'm scheduled for an ablation next week. Feel like I'm getting off easy.

Take care and get well soon! The surgeon said it went well. The patient is not as happy yet. Maybe in a day or so. I guess the anesthesia threw off some things.

Excellent. Super excellent.Patient recovered and, even better, hasn't had s migraine in 13 days. (Not a result of the ablation, but that makes me better yet. Had seven weeks of hell when I switched from Aimovig to Ajovy.)

Not sure how I missed this but glad you're recovering.Patient recovered and, even better, hasn't had s migraine in 13 days. (Not a result of the ablation, but that makes me better yet. Had seven weeks of hell when I switched from Aimovig to Ajovy.)
That would assume he was no longer in a-fib, and frankly I'm not sure of that. There have been a few days I've been totally exhausted after doing nothing, much like last ski season. Consult tomorrow. Not sure how I missed this but glad you're recovering.
Phil had his ablation spring 2021 and hasn't had any issues.
He also went off blood thinners within a few weeks of the procedure.
Meeting with my doctors - ablation and Watchman tomorrow. The plan had been to have the Watchman installed. Three of my other doctors told me that the plan was not a good one. Since I have A-fib ablation should be first. Both doctors will be there. This should be interesting. I want something to get done.If the ablation is successful there is a high likelihood you will not need a Watchman.
Best of luck. I bet you're glad to have both doctors there.Meeting with my doctors - ablation and Watchman tomorrow. The plan had been to have the Watchman installed.
