I just tried a Mountain Hardware Firefall 2 for him - I had doubts about the sizing from their own charts, but it was pretty heavily discounted in an end of season sale on Steep and Cheap so I gave it a try.
It's a medium, and it fits him very well, lanky and all. Including the sleeves. They have these extenders on them and easily reach the base of his thumbs, and doesn'tt even retract by more than an inch or so when he puts his arms straight out.
The torso isn't a parachute either. Decently contoured, but I can still squeeze a puffer vest underneath.
So there you have it folks, Mountain Hardware surprised me with their medium.
