Great journey @Idris. Enjoy your adventure! I've got a friend (more a friend of a friend) who is a pro patroller at Steamboat, and has done a patrol exchange with what I believe is called the Three Valleys area?

He tells some cool stories. How things REALLY shut down at lunchtime, how each patroller for a given hut (?) cooks lunch on a rotating basis, etc.

@James nailed the major benefits of volly patrolling in the post above. I'll just add that a big part of it was the social aspect when I did that during my youth back in northern Minnesota. A really great group of people (and cute girls -- at 16 to 20 years old, I'll admit that mattered).
