Justifying your quiver to a bunch of like minded ski nuts is easy.

I want to know how you justify it to your spouse or SO who is not ski obsessed (asking for a friend...)
I’m not married but when I think I’m close to a LT relationship, I try to pre-buy.

It's all in the training. Get them a really good pair so she has fun skiing on them. They will be hooked. It's like crack.
Patience is key. Sometimes it take a while. Mamie usually will just ski on whatever I killed and bring home. This summer is the first time she has walk up to the wall and said I want another pair of Stockli. She pick up the ski and paid for it at the counter without even consulting me. It takes time, but it will come.

177 Head Supershape iTitan - Because I wanted to relive my racing ski feeling.. but our grooming sucks so I needed it to handle weird hardpack, so I got the Titan over the Rally
184 Fischer Ranger 102FR - Daily Driver. I wanted an all around twintippy like ski to replace my Enforcer 100s, The skiessentials pictures in the review sold it for me., they made it look exactly like how I wanted to ski it.
184 Black Diamond Boundary Pro 107 - It had the NSP shield and was limited edition. nuff said. Powder ski?
190 Icelantic Pioneer 109 Patroller edition - Special limited Ski Patrol top sheet? yeah they got my money back in May. Also powder ski.

So really, two skis were bought because I wanted a specific type of ski and the other two.. well I tell myself its because I wanted a powder ski but a lot of it was the shiny allure of limited edition top sheets. The actual powder ski I want is the Nordica Enforcer Pro or the Rossignol Blackops 118. Of skis I think I actually need to fill a gap in my current quiver is a 88-mid 90s ski though, I was going to fill it with an Enforcer 93 or Kore 93 but, I ran out of ski space on the ski rack and the wife was catching on to what was happening despite the Icelantic Maiden 111's I bought her in hopes it would distract her from another ski purchase. It didn't work. I got the Black Diamonds in February, pre ordered the Icelantics in May, and purchased the Fischers in October, she put the hold on acquiring anything else at that point. "Four pairs of skis is enough" she says. She's up too three pairs though and it seems like as long as I stay with only one more pair than her everything is okay, so I guess my solution is to buy her another pair of skis so that I can increase my quiver to five.

For me it is quite easy: 4 pr of women's shoes = 1 pair of skis

Using that formula, I get to add 2 more pair of skis to my quiver..... But being a very reasonable husband, I'll only add 1 pair this year.

As long as there is space on the wall for more....

You jest.

I built ski storage for 12 pairs of skis (6 racks, 2 pairs each). We're out of space.

I'd build more racks on the other garage wall, but its already holding 8 bikes.

Guess its time my SO to get her own ski racks?

Omigosh, I forgot one!
Blossom Follow Me SL in a 155 (from @Brian Finch )....waiting on Pivots for them....for short racy turns on a very cool ski! :D
@cantunamunch ...I had no idea about the Sequi Me thing....:roflmao:

Hmmm. Used mine for a whole season and no one hit on me. Must be the skis. Something wrong with them. Oh well, they ski great, anyway.

Also, same thing applies to kids! Get everything before you have a child. :D

Skis

Head
Monster 83 @170cm (82 mm)

These are my “low tide” skis for early season and for days when I plan only or predominantly to ski groomers. While I did have narrower skis I found there was just too much specialisation in a 60 something underfoot carver. Modern 70 and 80 something underfoot skis are such good carve skis nowadays. So these are my carving skis.

Blizzard Brahma @173cm (88 mm)

These are my everyday skis in Oz. They’re great on groomers. Amazing. They’re good in bumps. They’re great in typical Oz just softened off piste. They’re good in new snow provided it’s not slurpee or above knee deep. I ski these 80% of the time in Oz (it used to be 90% prior to the purchase of the Heads).

Salomon QLab @176cm (103 mm)

I actually have two of these I liked them so much, one set up with Salomon Sth 13 bindings, and the other with Tyrolia Adrenalin 13 AT bindings. I take the alpine set up overseas for travel, and ski the AT set up in Oz. The travel skis have been used as a OSQ for travel in Hakuba Japan. The other pair I use on deeper new snow days in Oz. They haven’t been used in anger for touring yet. The doubling up on these two is probably the hardest thing to justify but I loved them and Salomon had discontinued them with no apparent replacement in sight. I’m covered!

Salmon Mth Lab @176cm (114 mm)

New purchase intended for use as a second pair of travel powder skis for Japan (next trip Niseko). I’m a member of a club in Niseko and may be able to leave them there. They are carbon and super light. Also set up with a light Tyrolia binding to help stay under airline weight limits as a packed second pair of skis.

Salomon QST 99 @181cm

Originally an all mountain powder/travel ski, these have now been converted to AT use and set up with a Dynafit binding. Good for short/moderate side country and longer touring. Only used in Oz but in theory could be used as a super light travel/touring ski pretty much anywhere.

Boots

Lange RX 120

These are my “main” boots, and used for travel. Super comfortable with good performance and suppprt.

Lange RS 130

When I was last in Japan I did a few lessons and in one of them the instructor thought I was overpowering my boots, and should get some stiffer ones. So I got these.

I haven’t quite broken them in yet so I’m not quite ready to take them overseas, but I think as soon as that happens they’ll probably become my new No 1 boots.

Lange XT Free Tour 110

Touring boots. Since they are almost identical to my alpine boots in fit and performance (albeit softer but given softer skis, softer snow and slower speeds that’s good) it’s essy to transition between resort skiing and touring

Where do you ski the most? ( I asume not in Wi) You have enough for a small rental fleet.
In Wi., mostly and the U.P. Trips out West have been minimal but hope to make more. Sometimes my skis get to go out West but not me. Also family of 4 skiers.

Oh, this thread again. Again. Where's the beating a dead horse emoji?

But I'll play, because I'm procrastinating on a few things I need to do today.

Renoun Z90. You know it, you love it, you can't live without it. A wide frontside carver that is more versatile than it should be. I teach in these skis (though not teaching this year). Basically my daily driver...except for the next one...

ON3P Woodsman 102. New this year, middle quiver that will get a lot of use. If not teaching and not exclusively a groomer day, these will be the soft snow daily driver. A lot of tip rise and tail rise, and very surfy and pivot-y in soft snow, plows through crud, and yet very good edge grip for a 102, very secure feeling when you get them on edge. Honestly I could use these as a powder ski......except for the next one.......

ON3P Billy Goat. 116 wide, great not only in untracked but superb in crud, a tail that releases easily, surprisingly good in bumps, secure enough on hard pack to comfortable get to where you need to go. Really ideal for wet heavy snow as we have here in the PNW and hella fun when I had fresh snow on road trip to MT and Jackson. I don't know what my criteria will be for bring these out over the Woodsman, but it's a nice problem to have.

My justification for not having more skis listed is...GripWalk. I would need get new bindings on my old skis, or swap back out the original soles on my boots. I just don't see a need. I could probably have fun with a narrower carver but don't often have conditions where I ski that really need it.
