OK I have been avoiding posting to this thread for a while ... so here goes mine (in order of acquisition)

17/18 Head SuperShape i.Speed 170 - ski it fast, has to be on edge, you won't reach its speed limit as a pure carver
17/18 Head Kore 93 171 - light but stiff, versatile ski, a bit chattery at higher speeds
18/19 Rossignol Hero Elite Multi-Turn Ca 167 - a fun, easy carver, surprisingly floaty in side powder
18/19 Rossignoi Hero Elite Plus Ti 167- absolutely rips carving turns, not a big fan of the NX12 binding, so replaced w N22 plate SPX 12
19/20 Atomic Redster X9i Caruba Woodcore 168 - a special ski, more snappy and energetic than the regular X9 WB
19/20 Volkl Deacon 84 172 - a great frontside carver, the heavy metal does not do well off piste, sinking in deeper powder
19/20 Volkl Mantra M5 177 - a ski that is often imitated but never duplicated, will charge and plow through anything on and off piste
18/19 Blizzard Brahma 88 180 like a wider race ski, loves to charge and be pushed hard, will not reach the limit on this one
17/18 Blizzard Bonafide 173 - just a modern classic all-mountain beast, might prefer a 180 if I could find one

Skis I have acquired in this long off-season and haven't had a chance to ski yet to form my own independent impressions:

18/19 Atomic Redster G9
19/20 Stockli AX 175
20/21 Stockli SR95 184
19/20 Black Crows Atris 183
19/20 Black Crows Corvus Freebird 184 (w/ Shift)
19/20 Blizzard Rustler 10 180 (w/ Duke PT 16)
19/20 Blizzard Rustler 10 172 (Pivot 15 Forza 2.0)
20/21 Blizzard Bonafide 97 177 w/ Pivot 18 Forza
20/21 Blizzard Brahma 88 177 w/ Pivot 15 Gold
19/20 Blizzard Firebird HRC 174
19/20 Fischer RC One 86 GT
19/20 Icelantic Nomad 115

  • Blizzard Firebird Race Ti 71, 178cm System Binding TPX 12 - new, unskied. frontside carver for here in MN, or car trips out west.
  • K2 Marksman 104, 185cm Tyrolia Ambition 12 frame binding - All Mountain ski CO/UT, super fun and surfy, also used for short tours.
  • K2 Wayback 106, 185cm AtK Crest 10 binding - Pomoca skins - Alpine Touring ski , only skied on groomer laps at Spirit Mountain so far ;-(

@jmeb tells me I need a narrower touring ski for spring tours in the Alps ;-) , so eying up options for that. Volkl BMT 90, Salomon Man Explore 95, some others. Unfortunate, that is not needed any time soon.

The Marksman will be replaced by something with a Shift binding, Probably 188 Salomon QST 99 or 106. The Marksman is fun, but the front is very short for me (6'5", due to the forward mount point.) Next year?

The Wayback 106 because it is a loose and forgiving ski. Good tail rocker. Backcountry I ski slow and cautious anyway. It’s light. It does everything OK. For a backcountry ski, that’s more important to me than excelling at one thing.

The Firebird because @Tricia ’s review sounded perfect, it was available, and it was cheap.

You can get by with the 106 *if* you have a good, rigid 110mm ski crampon.

But....a 95mm will be easier and you then get to buy another ski!

  • Rossignol Pro Radical carve skis 65, 135cm stock system bindings - use around MN on hardpack
  • K2 Pinnacle Jr 84, 149cm Hagan ZO2 Jr frame touring binding, because we have them - All Mountain skis CO/UT, mogul/slush spring skiing in MN.
  • K2 Pinnacle Jr 84 139 cm ATK Crest 8 tech bindings - Alpine Touring skis. Last 2 yers, she used these for most everything, including AT with frame bindings. She got lightweight AT boots this year, that only fit tech bindings.

Sssst. you said there was no way 106 ski would fit in the skin track. Don't let my wife hear any different.
I do have a 106mm ski crampon (that's nice about ATK, crampons in lots of sizes (same fit as Dynafit btw, so good option to check both if one is looking to optimize crampon width), don't know how rigid it is. The April Utah week and May Ski mountaineering long weekend I was planning didn't happen, so didn't test it yet on real hard snow and steep sidehills..

How do you like the Fischer? I have an opportunity to get one for short money (over 50% off) Can it handle GS turns or is it more slalom?

The beauty of the Fischer triple radius sidecut is that the turn shape and size isn't directly dictated by the ski. I skied the GT today and it is a powerful and very capable wide carver. It's dimensions are similar to the Blossom White Out, but it is much stiffer (in every way) and has much more "tail" (more squared off racing ski style). My take on it is that if you've got the skills then bring it on.

This thread's been around, but my quiver was so weak,
I couldn't play after reading cantunamuch's set up!

but, here we go,
Head fis SL 165, old, ski swap, will probably sale, $50.
2021 Stockli laser SC, new additions, skinny ski for making the frontside of northstar fun and working on my tech turns,
2006 Stockli Stormrider XL, Phil found it in a wrapper at a swap for $65 and knew I liked them, so now a backup/rock ski with demo binding
2020 Volkl Kendo 88, this is the ski I want to ski best on, it likes steeps, bumps and to be bent, but doesn't always do the work, but requires the archer to bend it up...
2021 Stockli SR 95, just good, fun, damp, versatile, everywhere, new snow to hard snow,
2021 Stockli SR 105, powski that has same feel as my all rounder 95,
2012 Kastle FX 105 with Shift, my backcountry ski, got lots of action last year in lockdown after many years off...

whew, I'm usually a 2 ski guy, 1 "on" the snow, 1 "in" the snow, but between Phil and another member here who enables me, it grew quickly this year so far... :).
Cheers!

My setup isn't as extensive as some here but I think it covers most conditions.

Daily Driver: Nordica Enforcer 93
Hard snow/beer league: Nordica GS-R
Powder: Black Crows Anima 115
Touring: Blizzard Zero G 95

I have a few others that are mostly retired but I'll occasionally pull out maybe once a year or so.

I like the Enforcers a lot, and they're probably the right ski for the vast majority of what I ski on them. But sometimes I wonder if I should have gone for the slightly wider 100 or even 104, because they're also the only ski I typically take on trips and can feel just a little outgunned if I happen to catch a legit pow day.

I'm not sure I'm in love with the Zero Gs, but I'm not certain whether the ski or the boot is more to blame. They're both probably a little too lightweight, but such is life. I don't tour enough to justify replacing them right now.

The other two skis are great and nail their intended use cases pretty well. I still wonder about other skis though: maybe a master's style GS ski instead of the beer league version, or perhaps a Rustler 11 might be a better match to my skiing style than the Anima... But overall, I'm pretty happy.

Wow...there are some impressive quivers going on here. I don't know where you find the time to keep all these skis maintained (although that may be just my oc ness with my own stuff). I do admire your zeal however. Anyway, I ski 40-50 days a year in a normal year. 6 days in steamboat, 4 in the Mount Washington Valley, NH, and the rest at Blue mt. in PA. Don't ski moguls in the east. Mostly addicted to the carve. My quiver in order of acquisition is :

2009 Fischer rc4 rc ( cheater gs )- was my daily driver for several years until...

2011 Blizzard fis sl (from @scotskier...one of his training pair). They were my daily driver for several years along with a few days of the fischers until I noticed the edges and bases on the Blizzards were getting quite thin so they became my early/late season ski.

2015 new old stock Head isl rd (again from @scotskier, thank you very much). My current daily driver, best skis I have ever owned. Decided I needed something for spring slop that could still be used in most all other conditions so...

2019 Nordica Enforcer 93. With last year's variable weather in the east they got a fair amount of play.

2011 Dynastar fis sl ( used, from a friend who gets new old stock every other year or so ). My new early/late season skis.

When in Steamboat, we rent from Fleischer Sport. Extremely convenient and high quality demos. For the past several years I have been on a variety of Kastles and this past year, I ended up on a pair of Head Core 93 which seemed to work well for the snow out there.

The Fischers are still in decent shape but if I were to replace any of the skis, they would be the ones to go. Of all the cheaters I have been able to demo lately, the Stockli Lazer gs has gotten my attention. Got to start saving!
