Nice. Gotta a bottle on my shelf now. Please tell me you drink this neat lol.

not expensive but top notch taste IMO
Maybe neat isn't the best way?

Older story but interesting non the less. I'm a bit of a wimp and need a bit of ice or water, but then I'm far from the top shelf ... but I've been liking what I've been trying of late ... even if with a bit of ice/water

I love the line: Hughes, but “if someone says they don’t like whiskey,” he added, “they just haven’t tried the right one yet.”

I'm really liking the stuff now, so funny how a bad night can kill the desire for anything. ;)

Interesting, I’ll have to try a splash in some scotch.

in my experience water brings out the bitter elements in bourbon. Not a fan.

Has anyone tried one of the "dry" options for a time when you want to take a booze break but still like the social aspects of enjoying a beverage?

I got an email from WhistlePig about Dry January options promoting this.

$49.99 MSRP. Yikes. I couldn't find a review; sounds like it's really new.

I just recall my spouse and sister-in-law when both pregnant at the same time taunting that NA beer was good. I also recall shortly after being pregnant deciding to both drink alcohol again, they both essentially said ... ugg, NA sucks, and pored it out.

Hopefully it's pretty good but somehow I am guessing the alcohol changes how one tastes the other ingredients but I'd try it if reviewed well or single shot buy.

Really like Frey Ranch Rye.
I mean REALLY like.
If you can't force yourself to spend the $$$ for a 10 yr Whistle pig, this is your huckleberry.
Delightfully complex, manages it's proof well. Worth sipping slowly, AND will knock the socks of your Manhattan and OF. Whistle Pig can't make that claim.

This showed up at the liquor store this week. It says it is "with natural banana flavour". it didn't sound that appealing to me. But at least its guaranteed not to contain any apeshit. That must count for something

I like Irish Whiskey.
One of my regular go-to’s is Redbreast 12

Good to know. I haven't tried their rye but now you've got me drooling for a few fingers of their bourbon! And you can use the bottle as a weapon when it's empty!

It's made in Fallon, Nevada, about 60 miles from Reno.

Tonight it’s a little “Canadian Blanton’s”
As far as the debate about how whiskey should be consumed my opinion is however you enjoy it.

Doesn't seem to have nationwide distribution.
Unfortunately, probably not. I'll see if I can sneak some to the gathering.

Haven't tasted their bourbon yet, but based on the reviews I've read so far, take the Rye.
I feel blessed that my local market has both. Contemplating clearing the rye shelf i.e. hoarding.

For who every needs to hear it… next time you’re buying that $500 bottle of bourbon from a rando in a sketchy facebook group, make sure it’s not a fake!:rocks:

This is a quite enjoyable read
https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/06/dining/drinks/fake-bourbon.html
“To the casual eye, there was nothing amiss about the bottle of whiskey sitting on a shelf at Acker, a wine store on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. But for anyone who knew what to look for, the warning signs were clear.”
