This one is pretty good. It's best sipped neat or with a tiny bit of water, IMO. They also have a bourbon that I have yet to try.

HELP! It is Easter … adult Easter. My son is getting married in 3 weeks and I would love to send him (via drizzly or some such) a great Japanese whisky. I have no idea about Japanese whisky. Suggestions?

Perhaps Hatozaki Small Batch scotch? It's about $45, and a decent example of Japanese whiskey talent. It's got a slight peaty taste to it without overwhelming the whiskey.

Nikki Coffey Grain is excellent, and a very safe choice.

Thanks everyone. I went with the Hatozaki small batch ... but in Nevada ... it was $79.00! I couldn't find the Nikki Coffey in stock so it was an easy decision. I had it delivered today so he can enjoy it at the end of his day. He is in dental school and in finals the next two weeks!

Maybe @Tricia will pick up the Cask, offer some up at events ...

caught this on Bloombergs, guess I never thought about buying up at an auction:

I loved this part:
2) the sample is shown for confirmation of the colour only and is not included in the sale (it has been consumed to populate tasting notes!).

It's well under half a million pounds sterling. Kind of a no-brainer if you ask me.
Up to $610,400.00 + now...That better be some fine whiskey!!
How many bottles of whiskey can you buy for that $$.

....and the bidding isn't done yet.

I like the regauge notes:
- New bulk 374 litres | New strength 51.5% ABV | 193 litres of alcohol

A simple rule of thumb...when the winter tires come off, switch to clear liquors..when the winter tires go back on, switch back to brown liquors. This guideline will let you keep your drinking habits straight and not get mixed up.

Tequila reposado - is that clear or brown? Maybe it's an all-season liquor.

There are also words about how the buyer has to get it out of the warehouse in a hurry and have a licensed person to take custody. And apparently it is currently "in bond" which I think the means the buyer has to pay alcohol duities on it when he removes it from the warehouse.

The added costs just keep coming. You probably have to pay to park when you pick it up, too.
