Even though it should be summer, it's still pretty chilly around here, especially after sweating like hell on last 1200m of ascend and ending up almost in middle of the cloud on top of the mountain. Good that I was somehow expecting some showers and packet rain jacket in my back pocket. We remained dry till end of ride, but rain jacket came handy in this iight wind and +10c temperatures on top :)

Man it's dry out there..
So dry, Scary dry :geek:!

My niece & her husband were up for the weekend so Rusty & I got dropped off yesterday at the top of Luther Pass to ride Armstrong Pass for the first time this year. The shuttle saves about 1000‘ of climbing & the ride includes a little of everything. Not so technical to cause stress but enough rock gardens & drops to keep your attention along with some super fun park like table tops & berms toward the bottom. Probably my favorite local ride right now :bikewheelie:

Rusty on the final 1/2 mile of super steep, techy climb to the top of the pass at around 9000’ elevation.

One of the fun little granite steps on the descent.

Back in the saddle...

Someone rebuilt the tin man. He looks a bit like Wall-e if you look closely at his head.

The Weber trail has matured nicely in its 3-4 years.

The colorized version of me. The edema is weird as it jiggles when I ride. I stopped noticing it after a while.

It is dry here a well. Fire danger very high as officials respond to multiple small blazes

It's Canyon Lux CF SLX. One of a kind  It was frame replacement for my old Lux (previous model), which Canyon didn't have on stock anymore, so as part of guarantee they replaced it for current model. It's SLX frame with front part (fork, front wheel and cockpit) remaining from old bike, and new rear part (rear shock, wheel, drivetrain). I'm pretty sure it's only bike like this on world :D Closest one in store would be their current Lux CF SLX 9 Team.

We did a big climb at the top of Logan Canyon yesterday (right next to Beaver Mountain ski area.) Rode to the spot where the coldest temperatures recorded in the lower 48 occur every winter—Peter Sinks. It’s a pretty non- remarkable spot, very beautiful scenery on the way up with the smell of pine constant. Pine and aspen provided shade the entire way. We climbed around 2000 feet in 4 miles. There were enough rocky spots to keep it interesting. It was so steep that I didn’t love the descent.
The Sinks are just a low flat spot covered in rocks and some sage brush:

The views along the ride were great:

The bikes were caked in dust. It’s so dry here. Normally June is hero tacky dirt season. Not this year:

The ride was memorable because the scenery and smells and constant tree coverage were all amazing, but I’m not sure I’d do it again. If I do, I’d pack lunch to eat at the top.

I went out for a quick ride this morning that turned into 18 miles. Not far for many but far enough for me!

Another warm day. We topped out about 78° F with a moderate breeze and plenty of sunshine.

There isn't much snow left on the summits. Dillon is coming close to full pool, but that won't last long. The next reservoir downstream is down 37 feet and boating is very limited.

All the trails at Powder Mountain are open. It is the closest place to beat the heat for me. Unfortunately most of the trails are dusty already but still good riding! This photo shows Pineview reservoir and Snowbasin in the distance.

Powder in the winter, powder in the summer! I missed being able to ride Dr. Dozen from Brim last year since it was closed. I'm looking forward to getting up on that stretch soon.

I had one of those on my hip years ago. Finally had to have it drained by a doc. No lasting effects.
Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Right now I'm about to hop on a plane to visit my family. I'm managing the edema with an ace bandage for now. There is a sharp pain sometimes when I move seemingly random ways. I'm guessing I tore some muscle, pinching it between my pelvis and the tree. Ugh.
