The trails have been super tacky due to a few days of afternoon rain. It looks like we will be entering the dustbowl soon, though. A couple of chances for rain over the weekend then a week of warm and sunny weather is in the offing.
Wednesday's morning ride.
This view never disappoints.
Yesterday a solo recon for dry trails.
This is on Wirepatch. There were some areas of snow/ice on the tread but it was possible to walk or ride the white stuff and the entire tread was tacky without a glimpse of mud.
The mountain is Guyot. It has a long haul in so while looking very pleasant, more work than I'm up for right now for some turns.
At the base of the Yellow Brick Road. The mining cart was a surprise artifact with the new alignment.
Crossing the tailings/scree. The sign isn't a joke. Despite the smooth appearance of the trail, it is loose, tippy and often times irregular. I didn't stop to take pictures of where the trail is surrounded by nothing but more rock. Loose your balance to the left and you're in for a hard fall. You have to really hold onto the bars and control the direction of the front wheel to prevent accidentally having an 'auto-turn' occur with disastrous results.
My riding partner injured her foot last night but was still game to ride today.
This is a view looking north. Dillon Reservoir with the Front Range in the distance.
Below is the same view (but zoomed in) showing the East Troublesome Wildfire that destroyed 25 square miles of forest along with numerous homes. Those aren't clouds on the horizon but rather smoke.
