That's more air than I got all season on skis!:roflmao:Fun ride this morning.
It was fun riding with you guys this morning. I really want to plan a picnic/bbq/tailgate with some friends at that park.
The climb up the connector home is getting easier each day.

Rode up by Park City Mountain Resort last night . great way to beat the heat. once we got into the trees the temps were very comfortable despite record heat on this day.
Snow below is the last remnants of the half pipe . the Dirt was perfect

The trails have been super tacky due to a few days of afternoon rain. It looks like we will be entering the dustbowl soon, though. A couple of chances for rain over the weekend then a week of warm and sunny weather is in the offing.

Wednesday's morning ride.

This view never disappoints.

Yesterday a solo recon for dry trails.

This is on Wirepatch. There were some areas of snow/ice on the tread but it was possible to walk or ride the white stuff and the entire tread was tacky without a glimpse of mud.

The mountain is Guyot. It has a long haul in so while looking very pleasant, more work than I'm up for right now for some turns.

At the base of the Yellow Brick Road. The mining cart was a surprise artifact with the new alignment.

Crossing the tailings/scree. The sign isn't a joke. Despite the smooth appearance of the trail, it is loose, tippy and often times irregular. I didn't stop to take pictures of where the trail is surrounded by nothing but more rock. Loose your balance to the left and you're in for a hard fall. You have to really hold onto the bars and control the direction of the front wheel to prevent accidentally having an 'auto-turn' occur with disastrous results.

My riding partner injured her foot last night but was still game to ride today.

This is a view looking north. Dillon Reservoir with the Front Range in the distance.

Below is the same view (but zoomed in) showing the East Troublesome Wildfire that destroyed 25 square miles of forest along with numerous homes. Those aren't clouds on the horizon but rather smoke.

I took a longer than usual ride today. A big loop with some dirt roads, mud, snow and tree-slaying.

IMG_20210605_095436.jpg

A couple of small trees on the Rock Island Road. It is used mostly by motos, but it is also a fast roll downhill for a few miles that gets you on the other side of the Golden Horseshoe.

IMG_20210605_101606.jpg

Then continuing down Rock Island Trail (no motos) and I encountered a 12" tree to slay. This trail is just a steep, rocky road that gets you further west on the next trail.

IMG_20210605_102517.jpg

Mission accomplished.

This was more than I'm set up to deal with.

Buck Saw - 20170622_090022.jpg

This sweet saw folds up small and I strap it on my pack. I've had it for a looong time.

At a favorite rest stop before the big descent. The tree on the right and stump behind my back were the result of my tree-slaying two years ago.

I was feeling old during this ride, especially after the last major descent about 18 miles in. I'm hoping it was just me taking it harder than usual.

Nothing quite as ambitious as @Doug Briggs but we went on a group mt bike ride at Tahoe City Cross Country Center. Tried some new trails with a bit more climbing. Super fun!

I think @Tom K. was suggesting an additional 2000 miles.
Yeah...that ain't happening. I like mountain biking, I just don't like it twice as much. ;) I like a 1-2 hour ride, I am not into 4-6 hour rides and thats what it would take.

Of course you realize you will be liking mountain biking this next year exactly as much as @Tricia decides you will, based on her love of the new e-Caliber.

I could see an additional 2k.........

The interesting thing is, Phil and I both like mountain biking, but we like different terrain. He likes to ride Peavine because he can leave from our house and get a solid ride in, but I'm not a fan of Peavine after spring riding. Too hot for me.
I like to ride trails that have more trees, shade and single track near the lake or Truckee River, which I do quite often with my girlfriends. It will be easier for me to load this bike to drive to those trail heads.
For @Philpug I think he'll get more riding in this year because @Andy Mink bought my old bike from me and will be riding from the house with Phil, up Peavine and other areas around here, right from the house.
