Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Right now I'm about to hop on a plane to visit my family. I'm managing the edema with an ace bandage for now. There is a sharp pain sometimes when I move seemingly random ways. I'm guessing I tore some muscle pinching it between my pelvis and the tree. Ugh.
I remember when @Tricia got on a plane right after bike accident a decade ago, she didn't fair well with the pressurized cabin.

@Philpug and I hit the trail down by Jacks Valley Road. When we pulled up we realized just how close the fire was to the trail head and that the trails across the road were IN the fire last week.

Phil and I split up becuase I was working on some tweaks to my customized settings on the new bike, after having a conversation with a Fazua guy.
While Phil saw a rattlesnake, I only saw a rattlesnake sign.

The desert blooms are beautiful.

Was it the change (reduction) in atmospheric pressure that gave her issues? I live at 9,750' and planes are generally pressurized to 10K' so I'm hopeful I'll be ok. This trip while not essential also isn't really optional. I'm going to see my folks for the first time in 16 months. It's an emotional support visit for my Mum more than anything else.

All I know was that I had fractured ribs and I was ummmmm....uncomfortable flying.
You're going to be fine.

Thanks. Mine isn't as bad as ribs but I'm getting a sharp, stabbing pain sometimes when I move certain ways. It could be a long flight despite being non-stop.

You may want to self medicate before the flight. ;)

I flew home from Crested Butte (somewhere around 9000') after a bike crash that banged up my knee (never actually got the knee evaluated, but fairly certain I cracked my knee cap...took almost 2 months to be able to ride a bike again, 4 months until it actually felt 100%, and a full year before it didn't hurt when it rained ). I was in CB for almost a week after the crash, and it was really painful to fly. No idea what it was about the flight...bring a plastic bag and keep asking the flight attendant for ice, if needed. Between the ice and whiskey (ice on the rocks and whiskey straight up ;) )...you'll be fine.

@Philpug and I got out fairly early to beat the heat at Sierra Vista Park.

Having broken my collarbone about 10 weeks ago I feel for those who are injured. I get out for 10 mile rides every other day. The bone is stil healing so I take it slow.

My advice is to enjoy some slow time; its not often we have a reason to stop pushing. The silver lining is that my back feels better than it has in years.

After some easy pedaling around with the little guys yesterday, I had to make up for it today. Heat be damned & I’m sure that 80° seems cool to the rest of the Northern hemisphere today but that is hot for Tahoe and I think it was close to 90° yesterday!

Got to meet Smokey...

We got a late start yesterday and when I got home, our clock looked like this.
Phil went a little further up Peavine and it was 99.3 by the time he got home.

The pups name is Lupine :ogcool:
I drank so much water, I spent the rest of the day feeling bloated. But at least I didn't get heat stroke.

Love the pic of the dog!

Yeah, that's too hot.

The race kicked my ass. I never realized how much being post-menopausal screws with the body's temperature regulation system. It was 85 or so and we were riding a lot of exposed areas and I truly thought I had heat exhaustion a few times. My heart rate was a good 10 BPM higher than normal for this particular ride (I rode it early Thursday morning and felt great.) I had goosebumps at times. I literally don't know how I finished. The race looped twice so I came to the base area after 8 miles and almost didn't go out for the final lap, but decided I wasn't quitting so went back out. I did set a few PRs on the descents (gotta loved closed trails!) But my climbs were abysmal.
